Tom Hardy Reportedly Axed from Paramount+ Hit MobLand Following On-Set Clashes with Helen Mirren and Producers

Tom Hardy’s time on the hit Paramount+ series MobLand has reportedly come to an abrupt end, following alleged tensions with co-star Dame Helen Mirren and a series of clashes with producers. The 48-year-old, who plays fixer Harry Da Souza alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, is said to have been removed from the upcoming third season after multiple on-set incidents.Tom Hardy's reported firing from MobLand comes after the star allegedly enraged his co-star Helen Mirren with his on-set behaviour

Sources suggest Helen, 80, who portrays Maeve Harrigan, was increasingly frustrated with Tom’s behaviour during filming of the second series. “He swaggers around like a king,” one insider told The Daily Mail, noting that his tone and attitude, along with occasional lateness, left Helen struggling to work closely with him.

Reports indicate that Tom pushed to change lines, offered unsolicited script notes, and at times was late for filming. His growing irritation with the series’ focus shifting more toward his co-stars allegedly heightened tensions with producer Jez Butterworth, who was reportedly close to threatening to quit himself.

This isn’t the first time Tom has faced on-set friction. During the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, he famously clashed with Charlize Theron over his punctuality and attitude. According to reports, the disagreements escalated into a screaming match, leaving Charlize fearful and requiring a producer’s presence at all times for protection. Tom later admitted that he wasn’t fully prepared for the role and acknowledged that Theron deserved better. While filming Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015,he fought with his co-star Charlize Theron  even engaging in a screaming row over his lateness. Back on MobLand, insiders claim that behind-the-scenes tensions were similarly disruptive. While his character on-screen is portrayed as calm and charming, off-camera Tom’s behaviour was allegedly a source of stress. Crew members reportedly noticed him playing on his phone when he was expected elsewhere, further frustrating colleagues.

“Dame Helen is a total pro and a joy to work with,” a source explained. “But she was increasingly frustrated with Tom. He can be late, his tone isn’t what she expects, and it feels personal. He is very arrogant, and it’s such a shame because the show is fantastic, and everyone loves working on it. But there’s this undertone now.”

Another insider added that Tom, who is married to Peaky Blinders actress Charlotte Riley, 44, has a tendency to get angry off-camera, which has compounded production difficulties. Previously, it was suggested that he might take a sabbatical after filming due to health issues, including knee surgeries, a herniated disc, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, and a pulled hip tendon.

Tom himself admitted to Esquire UK that his body “is all falling to bits” and he needed rest, citing multiple injuries and chronic pain. This context may have contributed to the on-set strain, though sources insist it didn’t excuse alleged unprofessional conduct.Tom (pictured in February) has been 'fired from hit Paramount+ series MobLand', insiders claim

While Paramount+ has not released an official statement, The Puck newsletter reported that the network opted not to bring Hardy back for season three, citing clashes with producers and co-stars. Daily Mail representatives have contacted Tom’s team for comment.

This latest controversy is a reminder of Hardy’s storied history of intense on-set relationships. From Mad Max: Fury Road to MobLand, the actor’s passionate, sometimes confrontational approach to his craft has sparked both admiration and criticism. In retrospect, Tom has acknowledged the pressures of filming and admitted that he could have been a better partner to his colleagues, stating, “In hindsight, I was in over my head in many ways… What she needed was a better, perhaps more experienced partner in me. That’s something that can’t be faked.”

Despite the headlines, fans continue to celebrate Hardy’s on-screen talent, even as behind-the-scenes tensions come to light. Whether this will mark a turning point in his career or serve as another dramatic chapter in his high-profile professional life remains to be seen.
