Sara Cox has said goodbye to her BBC Radio 2 teatime programme after more than seven years, ahead of her move to the station’s prestigious weekday Breakfast Show.
The presenter marked her final broadcast with a celebratory dinner at The Devonshire in Soho alongside members of her production team.
Reflecting on “seven and a half years of silliness,” Sara thanked listeners for their loyalty and urged them to join her when she begins her new morning role this summer.
The 51-year-old described hosting the Breakfast Show as a lifelong dream and promised to wake up the nation with great music, celebrity guests and her trademark humour.
Sara will take over the slot previously hosted by Scott Mills, whose BBC contracts were terminated following the emergence of new information relating to historic allegations. Mills was not charged and has since challenged the corporation’s decision.
