“Yes, 26 years! I deserve a medal, don’t I? Just kidding,” Penny laughed, acknowledging the effort they put into their relationship.

Penny revealed the key to their enduring love is simple: making each other a priority. “We don’t take each other for granted,” she shared. “We make sure we have date nights, whether it’s dinner, the theatre, or just having a coffee together after the school run. We love those long romantic walks and we always flirt with each other to keep the fun alive.”The 55-year-old model, police officer and TV presenter opened up on her marriage to the Maggie May rock star, and revealed the secret to their long lasting romance in a new interview this week (pictured last year)

Despite their busy lives, Penny and Rod ensure they make time for intimacy and affection, often marking important milestones with grand gestures, like the romantic train trip they took from Paris to Portofino for their wedding anniversary. “Rod proposed to me in Paris and we got married in Portofino, so we love reminiscing about our life together, while also making plans for more romantic trips.”

Penny also credited the occasional time apart for helping to maintain their spark. “We spend time apart, and it really helps keep the excitement alive,” she admitted. “We’ve both been counting down the days to be reunited after three weeks apart.”

The couple first met in 1999, when Penny was a photography student at Barking College and Rod was performing. “We spent hours talking on the phone, and even though we were in different countries, we made the effort to stay connected,” Penny recalled.

She went on to praise Rod’s sensitivity and spirituality, sharing that behind his public persona, he has a deeply artistic and thoughtful side. “Rod is demanding and requires a lot of attention, but that’s fine because I’m good at giving it,” she said. The couple welcomed their first son, Alistair, 20, in 2005, before going on to tie the knot in 2007, and welcoming their second son, Aiden, 14, in 2011

They’ve shared two children together: their first son, Alistair, born in 2005, and their second son, Aiden, born in 2011. Rod, who has six children from previous relationships, has always been open about his love for Penny and the beautiful family they’ve built together.

Reflecting on their journey, Penny said, “From the start of our 26 years together, we’ve always spent time apart. But through it all, we’ve built a life full of love, laughter, and the promise of more adventures.”

Their connection is proof that love is not only about the big moments, but the small, everyday acts of devotion that make their bond unbreakable.
