KSI Faces Backlash Over Shocking Joke About Hitting Pregnant Women – Domestic Violence Campaigners Respond
KSI’s controversial past resurfaces as a 2017 YouTube video emerges, sparking outrage from domestic violence advocates
KSI, a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and renowned influencer, has come under fire from domestic violence campaigners after a vile joke he made about hitting pregnant women resurfaced. The video, which was deleted shortly after it was posted in 2017, shows KSI telling his mother that, instead of practicing safe sex, he would “punch the baby” if a woman were to get pregnant with his child.
In the clip, after KSI’s mother, Yinka Olatunji, reminds him about the importance of using a condom, KSI laughs and responds, “If she gets pregnant I’ll just punch the baby.” His mother immediately reacts in shock, telling him, “No, you can’t say that,” but KSI brushes it off, saying, “I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m not going to do that, Jesus.”
However, the remark has drawn widespread condemnation, particularly from domestic violence organizations. A spokesperson from Women’s Aid stated, “Comments like this are never acceptable, even if meant as a joke. It’s a sad truth that pregnant women are more likely to experience domestic abuse, and such ‘jokes’ trivialize a serious and life-threatening issue.”
The incident has reignited concerns over the normalization of harmful language in media and social platforms. KSI, who boasts over 17 million YouTube subscribers, has faced similar criticism in the past. In 2023, he took a break from social media after sparking anger for using a racist slur in a video, and more recently, his remarks during a Sidemen video sparked backlash when he used offensive language during a challenge.
A source close to KSI defended him, saying that the video is nearly a decade old and that he deeply regrets his past language. “Like many people, KSI looks back on that time with deep regret and recognizes his language was both stupid and wrong,” the source added.
While the video has since been deleted, the damage has been done, and KSI’s controversial past continues to haunt him as he navigates his career in both entertainment and social media. The Britain’s Got Talent judge, known for his comedic sketches and online challenges, has yet to comment publicly on the latest backlash.
The incident highlights the broader issue of inappropriate humor and the responsibility influencers and celebrities have in shaping public discourse. Domestic violence awareness advocates continue to call for accountability, especially when such harmful rhetoric can perpetuate dangerous attitudes toward abuse.
