Gladiators Star Legend’s Real Life Exposed As He Joins Celebrity Gogglebox

📺 Gladiators star Matt Morsia is leaving the arena behind and heading for the sofa as he joins the new series of Celebrity Gogglebox.

Best known to viewers as the hilariously self-confident Legend, Matt is teaming up with fellow Gladiator Harry “Nitro” Aikines-Aryeetey for Channel 4’s hit celebrity spin-off.

The pair are used to testing contenders with strength, speed and serious competitive fire.

But now, their latest challenge is very different: sitting down, watching television and saying exactly what they think.

And knowing Legend, fans can expect plenty of cheeky one-liners.

BBC Gladiators star Matt Morsia speaks frankly about life-changing eating disorder - The Mirror💪 Matt has become one of the breakout stars of the rebooted Gladiators.

Since the BBC brought the show back in 2023, Legend has stood out as one of its most entertaining characters.

He is loud.

He is confident.

He is dramatic.

And he never misses a chance to remind viewers just how brilliant he thinks he is.

Whether he wins or loses, Legend always has something to say — and usually finds a way to make himself the centre of the moment.

That larger-than-life personality is exactly why Celebrity Gogglebox feels like such a perfect fit.

Gladiators: How much is Legend worth? Matt Morsia's fitness empire😂 When his casting was announced, Matt joked about being paid to watch TV.

Speaking alongside Nitro, he laughed: “Who green-lighted that?”

It was classic Legend energy — funny, self-aware and just a little bit smug.

But away from the arena, the man behind the character is far more than a TV showman.

Matt Morsia, 40, has built an impressive life as an athlete, businessman, fitness expert, husband and father.

🏋️ Before becoming Legend, Matt had a serious sporting background.

He previously competed in long jump and triple jump before moving into powerlifting in 2012.

His success in the sport included a silver medal at the 2016 European Championships.

Matt later worked as a PE teacher at Folkestone Academy in Kent, before turning his fitness knowledge into a major business.

He now runs his own training and nutrition app, Morsia, which he says has helped hundreds of thousands of people transform their bodies.

So while Legend may love to boast, there is real work behind the confidence.

❤️ Away from TV, Matt is a devoted family man.

He is married to wife Sarah, and the couple are preparing to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary this summer.

Their relationship goes back much further than their marriage.

Matt has revealed that he and Sarah were friends from the age of 14 and have now been together for around 25 years.

Speaking on Loose Women, he said the key to their long relationship is balance — staying close, but also having their own interests.

For Matt, independence within a relationship appears to be part of what keeps their bond strong.

🌟 Sarah also plays a major role in Matt’s business world.

She is Managing Director of his company and has built her own profile as a food, fitness and travel influencer.

With a large Instagram following, Sarah shares glimpses of family life, lifestyle content and the fitness-focused world she and Matt have built together.

The couple are not just partners at home.

They are partners in business too.

👨‍👩‍👦 Matt and Sarah share two sons, Luca and Mauro.

Luca is nine, while Mauro is four — and both boys are clearly proud of their Gladiator dad.

Matt has said that Luca is at the perfect age to enjoy Gladiators, and the family has fully embraced the fun of the show.

Luca even received his own Pugil stick for Christmas, making him feel like part of the arena action.

Matt often shares family moments online, including sweet pictures of his sons showing off their muscles beside him.

It is a very different side to the cocky Legend persona fans see on screen.

🏆 Still, that Legend confidence is never too far away.

Matt recently appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice, where he took part as himself — though viewers quickly spotted flashes of his Gladiators alter ego.

During a task to create Christmas biscuits for Children in Need, Matt confidently put himself forward as Project Manager.

He pointed to his experience building multi-million-pound businesses and joked that he had been “carrying” Gladiators for two years.

Actress Sarah Hadland jokingly praised the “honesty and humbleness” he brought to the room.

It was another reminder that Matt knows exactly how to play up the Legend character for laughs.

😂 That mix of ego, humour and sharp timing could make him a Celebrity Gogglebox favourite.

The show thrives on big personalities who react honestly, laugh loudly and say the things viewers at home are thinking.

Legend is made for that format.

He does not hold back in the Gladiators arena.

So fans will be expecting the same energy when he watches the week’s biggest TV moments from the sofa.

With Nitro beside him, the pairing could bring plenty of playful rivalry and banter.

📺 The new series of Celebrity Gogglebox begins tonight, Friday June 5, 2026, at 9pm on Channel 4.

Alongside Legend and Nitro, the line-up includes famous faces such as Olivia Attwood, Nigel Havers and Julian Clary.

But given Legend’s reputation for saying exactly what he thinks, he could easily become one of the standout stars.

Matt Morsia may be stepping away from the arena for one night, but the Legend attitude is coming with him.

He has conquered powerlifting.

He has entertained Gladiators fans.

He has built businesses, raised a family and turned confidence into a full-blown TV persona.

Now, he is ready to become an armchair critic.

And if Celebrity Gogglebox viewers are lucky, Legend will be every bit as outrageous on the sofa as he is in the arena.
