KSI has announced he is stepping away from The Sidemen in what he described as one of the hardest decisions of his life.
The YouTube star, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, confirmed the news in an emotional video just hours after appearing in the Britain’s Got Talent finale.
The 32-year-old said his final Sidemen video would be released on May 31, bringing an end to more than a decade as part of the hugely successful online group.
KSI helped form The Sidemen alongside Vikram Barn, Joshua Bradley, Simon Minter, Tobi Brown, Harry Lewis and Ethan Payne. What began as gaming videos between friends grew into a global internet brand, with millions of fans, sold-out events and a Netflix documentary.
In his farewell message, KSI insisted there had been no fallout and said the decision was entirely his own.
He explained that he had been pulled in too many directions in recent years, balancing YouTube, music, boxing, business projects and television commitments.
The star admitted he had struggled to make time for his family, partner and personal health, saying he no longer felt able to give The Sidemen the full commitment they deserved.
He thanked the group for their friendship and said the memories they created together would stay with him forever.
KSI also urged fans to continue supporting the remaining members, saying he believes they will carry on making incredible content.
His exit marks the end of a major era for one of YouTube’s biggest groups — but for KSI, it appears to be the beginning of a more balanced new chapter.
