Former Little Mix Star Documents Emotional Journey With Twin Daughters’ Health Battle

Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional update regarding the health of her twin daughters, Ocean and Story, revealing that both babies have been fitted with leg splints. The twins were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1), a severe genetic neuromuscular disease, in January 2026. SMA1 is the most common and severe form of the condition, which can significantly impact muscle strength and motor function, with a life expectancy of under two years without immediate medical intervention.

Jesy, 34, took to Instagram to update her followers on the latest developments, showing the small leg splints her daughters will wear to correct their “pointed feet.” In the video, Jesy shared her feelings about the situation, saying, “It made me really sad. It’s just another reminder of what they’re going through.” The leg splints, which were personalized with cute designs – one with hearts for Story and the other with butterflies for Ocean – are part of their ongoing treatment to help manage their symptoms.
