Jesy Nelson, 34, has offered a £10,000 reward after her car, filled with crucial hospital equipment for her twin daughters, was stolen from her driveway. The Little Mix star, who is currently caring for her 11-month-old daughters Ocean and Story, revealed in a heartfelt Instagram post that her black Defender was taken from her Brentwood, Essex home.
Jesy shared how devastated she was by the theft, explaining that the vehicle contained vital equipment she uses to care for her daughters, who were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1). The singer posted the car’s registration number, JJ73SSY, and appealed for any information on the vehicle’s whereabouts. The car was last tracked near Chelmsford.
She wrote on Instagram: “My car got stolen off the driveway in the early hours of this morning, if anyone sees a black defender, reg plate JJ73SSY, please if any of you have seen or know any information, DM me or contact the police. I have so much of my girls’ hospital equipment in there that’s really needed.”
Jesy and her ex-partner Zion, have been through immense hardship since their twins’ diagnosis in January. SMA1 is a severe, rare condition that weakens muscles by affecting motor neurons, with the most severe form (SMA1) leading to early death without intervention. Jesy has been vocal about her ongoing battle with the condition and her mission to get SMA1 included in the NHS’s newborn screening programme.
Despite the heartbreaking challenges, Jesy has been campaigning for improved testing and earlier diagnoses, as her daughters’ late diagnosis means they will never be able to walk.
A Public Plea for Support
Alongside the reward offer, Jesy has been using her platform to continue advocating for changes to newborn screening policies in the UK. She praised the recent announcement by Wes Streeting, which confirmed that more than 400,000 babies will be tested for SMA from October 2026, but lamented the fact that the tests would only be available in certain regions.
In addition to her advocacy work, Jesy has been open about the difficulties of daily life with her daughters. She shared that she feels deeply for them when they undergo their daily medical procedures and described some days as “really fing s,” but also moments of lightness. Despite the odds, she remains hopeful and determined that her daughters will defy the grim prognosis.
Jesy has received immense support from her followers, and her openness about her struggles has resonated with many, particularly those who have been affected by similar health battles.
The Stolen Car Incident and the Campaign for SMA1 Screening
The theft of Jesy’s car, carrying essential medical equipment, has added to the stress of her already challenging life. The vehicle’s contents were a crucial part of her daughters’ ongoing care, making the situation even more urgent. Despite the distress, Jesy remains resilient, pushing forward both with her personal battle and her public campaign to raise awareness for SMA1.
Her plea for information about the stolen car has sparked widespread empathy and support, with many fans urging others to keep an eye out for the vehicle in their area. Jesy’s determination to continue her work while raising her children with SMA1 has made her an advocate for many families facing similar struggles.
As she continues to navigate this tumultuous period in her life, Jesy’s focus remains on her daughters’ well-being and on helping other families in similar situations.
