Jeremy Clarkson has worried fans after revealing that doctors once warned him he was only “days” away from suffering a heart attack during a serious health scare in 2024.
The 66-year-old TV star experienced severe chest pains in October 2024 and was rushed to hospital by ambulance. Doctors later discovered that one of his arteries was completely blocked.
In the opening episode of the new fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy recalled the frightening ordeal while speaking to his co-star Kaleb Cooper. He joked that he was “back and not dead,” but admitted the situation had been extremely close.
Jeremy said the warning sign that made him take notice was a pins-and-needles sensation in his arm while he was scrolling on his phone. Had he not noticed that symptom, he may not have realised he was having heart problems and may not have gone to hospital in time.
After tests, doctors confirmed that he had not suffered a heart attack at that moment, but his coronary arteries were in a very serious condition. Jeremy explained that one artery was totally blocked, while the others were also badly narrowed, meaning his heart was not getting enough blood.
When he asked the doctor how close he had been to a heart attack, the answer was chilling: “Days.”
Surgeons later fitted a stent to open up the blocked artery and restore blood flow. After the procedure, the former Top Gear host was warned that he needed to make major lifestyle changes.
Jeremy believes the pressure of opening his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, just weeks earlier may have played a part in his health deteriorating. He had also started feeling unwell while on holiday, especially after a swim in the Indian Ocean left him exhausted.
Now, as he returns in Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy admits the new series is one of the most dramatic yet. But behind the familiar farm chaos and humour, his story carries a serious warning about health — sometimes one small symptom can save a life.
