Comedian and TV star Darren Sanders is in the fight of his life after being diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, leaving his family and supporters heartbroken. 💔
The 57-year-old comedy veteran, best known for his appearances on Rove Live and In Melbourne Tonight, was rushed to the hospital after what he initially thought was a simple case of tonsillitis. However, a devastating diagnosis soon followed—acute promyelocytic leukaemia, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.

“This Is Hard to Share, But I’m Asking”
In an emotional post on social media, Darren’s wife, Robyn Linkhorn, shared the difficult news with fans and launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $40,000 to cover their living and medical costs. “This is hard to share, but I’m asking,” Robyn began, her words laden with emotion. “Darren is in ICU and has started chemotherapy. The treatment will be ongoing for the next few months, and everything has stopped overnight. He can’t work, and there’s no income.”
Emergency Treatment and Financial Strain

The couple, who has been together for years, has found their world turned upside down. Darren, who has been a staple in the Australian entertainment industry for over 30 years, is now facing an uncertain future. Robyn expressed her frustration, noting that Darren’s diagnosis has meant the cancellation of his gigs and a total halt to his career.
“It’s been so hard,” she continued. “He’s always been there for others, giving his time, energy, and humor. Now, we need a bit of help. If you’re able to contribute, thank you. If not, sharing this means just as much.”
By the time the GoFundMe page went live, generous supporters had already contributed over $25,000 in just two days. 🙏
“I Feel Your Support”

Darren, overwhelmed by the love and support, shared his gratitude on social media, saying, “I’m bloody overwhelmed and grateful. I can’t respond to each and every message, but I feel your support.” His heartfelt message brought tears to many of his fans, who have rallied behind him during this challenging time.
Robyn, who runs Compass Pilates, shared how hard it has been for the couple to face this financial and emotional strain. “Darren can’t be the provider right now, and it’s hard,” she said. “But I know we have an amazing community behind us. We’ll get through this.”

Fellow comedian and TV personalities have reached out to show their love for Darren and Robyn. Married at First Sight star Ryan Gallagher expressed his sympathy, writing: “Ah, s***, sorry to hear this Darren. This sucks, man.”
