Monty Don has reportedly been given a gentle reminder by the BBC after appearing on Gardenersâ World wearing a designer Barbour jacket linked to a commercial campaign.
The much-loved gardening presenter, who has fronted the BBC favourite for more than two decades, recently appeared in promotional material for Barbourâs spring/summer 2026 collection.
The brand praised him as âBritainâs most legendary gardenerâ and described him as a pioneer of âallotment-coreâ style.
However, BBC guidelines state that presenters should not wear or promote items on air if they are connected to paid commercial work.
A BBC spokesperson told The Mirror that the corporation has âclear guidelinesâ around presentersâ outside commercial activities, adding that Monty had been reminded of them.
đŒ Despite the headlines, the matter appears to be a minor wardrobe issue rather than a major scandal.
Monty remains one of the BBCâs most popular and trusted presenters, with viewers continuing to admire his calm charm, gardening wisdom and down-to-earth style.
For fans, one thing is clear: a jacket may have caused a stir, but Monty Don is still firmly rooted in the nationâs heart.
