Amy Dowden, the 35-year-old professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, has emotionally revealed the ongoing challenges she faces in her hopes of becoming a mother, after being forced into medically-induced menopause following her chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
In an intimate interview, Amy expressed her deep longing for motherhood, yet shared that the uncertainty around whether she will ever have children remains a constant, overwhelming concern. “There’s a big dark cloud over me. Will I become a mother? I’ve wanted to be a mummy since I was a little girl,” she admitted. “But we will cross that bridge when it comes to it, and I will explore every option going.”

I was at the lowest point I’d ever been. But two years later, after surviving cancer, mastectomies, and even a broken foot, I feel like me again.”
Amy credited her recovery to her loving husband Ben, her Strictly co-star Carlos Gu, and her incredible medical team, noting that despite the ongoing challenges, her love for dancing and her family helped her heal and stay strong. “I’ve dug deep in the past 12 months,” she said. “Cancer didn’t take my dancing. I’m proud of how far I’ve come.”
