“Pain Will Never Go Away” – Kelsey Parker Opens Up About Grief and Life After Husband Tom’s Death

Kelsey Parker has opened up about the profound grief she continues to experience, four years after the tragic death of her husband, Tom Parker, member of The Wanted. Tom passed away in March 2022 at the age of 33 after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. At just 32, Kelsey found herself unexpectedly widowed, and her journey through this heartache has been both devastating and inspiring.

In an emotional interview on the CBeebies HQ Parenting Helpline podcast, Kelsey shared the painful truth about how grief has shaped her life. “Your pain is never going to go away,” Kelsey admitted. “What you learn to do is live around your pain.” These words reflect the ongoing emotional toll that losing Tom has taken, but also the strength Kelsey has found in the face of unimaginable loss.

As a mother to their two young children, Aurelia and Bodhi, Kelsey explained how difficult it has been to navigate life without Tom while still caring for her family. “I am grieving, and I am getting out of bed because I have no other choice,” she said, highlighting the resilience she has cultivated to continue raising her children through her darkest days.

One of the most heartbreaking moments Kelsey shared was the day Tom passed away. She recalled having to explain to her children that their father was leaving. “I told the kids, I need to go to the hospice to make sure the angels come for daddy today,” she said. This moment, marked by deep sorrow, also represented her painful acceptance that Tom would never return.

Despite the overwhelming grief, Kelsey has consistently put her children’s needs first, ensuring they did not see the weight of her pain. “Mummy, can you make me breakfast?” they would ask, and Kelsey, despite her sorrow, continued to be the mother they needed, never allowing her grief to hinder her maternal responsibilities.

Though the pain of losing Tom will never fully fade, Kelsey has continued to move forward. Recently, she has found love again with tree surgeon Will Lindsay. However, she has made it clear that Tom will always hold a special place in her heart. “Tom will always be the love of my life,” she said, reaffirming the deep love she will forever hold for her late husband.

Kelsey’s journey through grief is a testament to the enduring power of love and resilience. Despite the darkness, she has proven that hope, strength, and love can still endure, even after unimaginable loss.
