Lorna Luxe, the 43-year-old influencer, has bravely shared her heartbreaking experience of watching her husband John Andrews slowly succumb to stage four adrenal cancer in a devastating interview on Thursday. John, 64, passed away in February after a courageous battle with the illness.
Reflecting on his final days, Lorna admitted that his death was far from the peaceful passing she had imagined. “It wasn’t anything like you see in the films,” she said. “I’d imagined me nattering away to him until the last minute and him squeezing my hand. But this was slow and sad. Every breath became a chore.”
Lorna described the intense emotional toll of seeing her husband’s health deteriorate, revealing that the struggle of watching him fight for each breath was the hardest thing she had ever endured. “The body fights it — it’s not an easy, relaxing, passing-into-sleep thing,” she explained.
Despite the sadness of his passing, Lorna found comfort in the notes John had left for her. As she went through his phone, she discovered “short, sweet, beautiful notes” that he had written for her in the time leading up to his death. Among these, there was even a “funny” list of people Lorna was “not allowed to date” after his passing, though she humorously noted that John didn’t name anyone specifically.
In a post on Instagram, Lorna shared that one of John’s final requests was for her to secure her engagement ring — a stunning 15-carat diamond — in a safe deposit box. John, ever protective, had made it clear that he didn’t want Lorna to be a target for thieves while living alone. “I’ve put all of my diamonds in a safe deposit. It was as per John’s request,” Lorna said. “He just wanted to make sure I wasn’t a target. Day to day, I’m not going to be wearing my rock.”
John’s death has left Lorna to navigate life on her own, and she is now considering big decisions regarding her future. While reflecting on her life with John, Lorna mentioned that she and her husband had previously tried for children when they first married, but after struggling to conceive, she chose to focus on her career. However, now, after his passing, Lorna has been thinking about starting a family and is even considering egg freezing. She shared that she recently asked her doctor if she should go ahead with it.
As she moves forward, Lorna is facing decisions that she never expected to make alone. Despite the grief, she is committed to honoring John’s memory while embracing the changes in her life.
Lorna and John were married for 16 years, and their life together was filled with moments of joy, indulgence, and adventure. The couple had a close-knit bond, and even when John’s health took a turn for the worse, Lorna and John made sure to live life to the fullest, making the most of their time together.
Through it all, Lorna has shown immense strength, finding ways to move forward while cherishing the memories of her life with John.
