Gemma Collins, 45, has candidly shared the emotional toll her IVF journey took on her relationship with fiancé Rami Hawash, admitting that it left her feeling “broken” and deeply affected her connection with him.
The TOWIE star opened up about how the pressures of trying to conceive impacted her relationship, particularly during a period when she was dealing with intense trauma and struggles. In an exclusive look at her new Sky series, Four Weddings And A Baby, Gemma revealed that while Rami was supportive, the strain of the IVF process made their bond difficult at times.
Gemma reflected on how the IVF journey left her feeling like her “whole world fell apart,” explaining that there were moments when her relationship was tested as she dealt with the emotional and physical toll of the process. “My relationship was obviously taking a bit of a hit,” she said, adding that she had “no performative person” around her, indicating how raw and vulnerable the experience had been.
She shared, “Everyone gets to see the real me – you’re in my home. It’s what people don’t see. I was broken.”
Gemma has been very open about her challenges with fertility, including her struggle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and low AMH (anti-müllerian hormone) levels, which affect egg count. Having suffered three miscarriages in the past, the reality star has been transparent about the emotional toll this has taken on her.
While dealing with these fertility issues, Gemma has also considered alternative paths to motherhood, including surrogacy and fostering, citing her personal connection to fostering due to her own mother’s experience.
In lighter news, Gemma has also discussed her upcoming wedding to Rami, which she is planning in true GC fashion, including multiple ceremonies and several wedding dresses. Despite considering a move to Dubai, Gemma confirmed she will be staying in the UK with her family, as she feels a strong connection to her roots.
Gemma and Rami, who rekindled their romance in 2020, are looking forward to their wedding later this year, and Gemma expressed her gratitude for Rami’s unwavering support throughout her career, including the early days when he would financially support her and encourage her dreams.
