John Stapleton Leaves £4.5 Million Fortune to Son Following His Death
John Stapleton, the beloved ex-BBC and ITV presenter who passed away last year at the age of 79, has left a remarkable £4.5 million fortune to his son, Nick, as revealed in official probate documents.
Stapleton, who was known for his long career in television journalism, had an estate with a gross value of £5,536,228 at the time of his death. After accounting for expenses and debts, the estate was valued at £4,544,801.
The much-loved presenter, who lived in Twickenham, southwest London, signed his will in 2017. At the time, he intended for his estate to pass on to his wife, fellow TV presenter Lynn Faulds Wood. However, Lynn tragically passed away from a stroke in 2020 at the age of 72, prior to John’s death. As a result, his fortune was bequeathed to their son, Nick, a successful TV journalist who now works on Scam Interceptors.
John Stapleton’s career spanned decades, from his reporting during the Falklands War to his time as a fixture on breakfast television. He went on to present GMTV and later BBC’s Watchdog, alongside his wife. The duo became a beloved television partnership, known for investigating consumer complaints and exposing rogue traders, making them household names.
Stapleton’s legacy, both on-screen and through his family’s continued success, remains an enduring part of British television history.
