Reflecting on “seven and a half years of silliness,” Sara thanked listeners for their loyalty and urged them to join her when she begins her new morning role this summer.She then marked the occasion by heading to the Devonshire Soho in London for a swanky dinner with her team

The 51-year-old described hosting the Breakfast Show as a lifelong dream and promised to wake up the nation with great music, celebrity guests and her trademark humour.Sara is close friends with Scott and worked alongside him at Radio 2 and Radio 1 for years; Pictured together in 2014

Sara will take over the slot previously hosted by Scott Mills, whose BBC contracts were terminated following the emergence of new information relating to historic allegations. Mills was not charged and has since challenged the corporation’s decision.
