Shaun Wallace of The Chase on the Mend After Knee Surgery, Set for Triumphant Return
Shaun Wallace, widely known as The Dark Destroyer on The Chase, is on the road to recovery following knee replacement surgery that delayed filming for the beloved ITV quiz show. The 65-year-old quiz master, who has been an integral part of the show since 2009, shared details about his surgery and recovery process, assuring fans he’s working hard to return to his best.
In an exclusive interview on the Royal Kennel Club Podcast, Shaun revealed, “I had the surgery about three weeks ago, and I’ve been training every day to make sure I’m ready. I’ve got to make up for lost recording time when I get back.” Shaun is expected to return to the ITV studios on March 17 and is eager to get back in action as soon as possible.
Despite the health setback, Shaun’s optimism is unwavering as he looks ahead to an exciting few months. “I’m in every day from then on. We’ll be launching Chase Around The World in May, and I’m really looking forward to it,” he shared with enthusiasm.
Known for his sharp wit and confidence, Shaun also took a moment to address the pressure contestants face on The Chase. He urged fans to show more empathy toward contestants, particularly when they make mistakes. “It takes courage to be on that show, and yet some people still mock contestants for not answering correctly or taking lower offers. To those people, I say: ‘Shut up. You’re not here. It takes guts!’”
As Shaun prepares for his return, fans can rest assured that nothing, not even surgery, will slow down The Dark Destroyer. He’s set to face challengers with his signature style and continue delivering the high-energy thrill that The Chase is known for.
Stay tuned for Shaun Wallace’s grand return to the show, and get ready for the world tour that will launch later this year!
