Over the past two years, while continuing to film MAFS, Mel has bravely undergone 16 rounds of chemotherapy. She had also been scheduled to begin a groundbreaking clinical trial this March, offering a glimmer of hope. Despite undergoing radiotherapy in an attempt to halt the spread, Mel’s prognosis has taken a grim turn. “After many tests, I was told the cancer had spread to the left side of my brain,” she shared. “The oncologists have now said there is nothing they can do.”

In her post, Mel acknowledged the immense love and support she has received from her family and fans, especially her daughter, Madison, and husband, Gareth. “These two beside me are my everything,” she wrote, sharing a photo of her family.

This tragic news comes after Mel’s announcement last month that she would be stepping away from her role as a relationship expert on MAFS Australia, after 12 seasons. She cited ongoing health issues and the difficulty of managing her life between the UK and Australia.

Mel has been a central figure on MAFS since season two, known for guiding couples through the highs and lows of the show’s intense experiments. Her decision to step down from the show was a deeply personal one, made to prioritize her health and family.

In an interview on Lorraine in January 2025, Mel spoke candidly about the symptoms she had ignored before her diagnosis, reflecting on how women often brush off signs of illness. She encouraged women to listen to their bodies and seek medical advice when something doesn’t feel right.

Her brave battle has inspired countless fans, and many have flooded her social media with messages of love and support. Fellow celebrities, including Dawn French and Kerry Katona, have also offered their heartfelt condolences, acknowledging Mel’s unwavering strength and courage in the face of this heartbreaking news.
