Ioan Gruffudd’s Income Plummets Amid Bitter Divorce Battle with Alice Evans, Lawyer Claims

In a dramatic court appearance, Ioan Gruffudd’s lawyer revealed how the actor’s income has fallen sharply from $585,000 a year to just $125,000 as a direct result of the years-long harassment and abuse inflicted by his ex-wife, Alice Evans.Gruffudd is seen here arriving at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday

The Fantastic Four star’s attorney, Joseph Langlois, accused Evans of waging a malicious “five-year campaign of false narratives” designed to ruin Gruffudd’s career. According to Langlois, Evans’ online harassment, including 20,000 negative social media posts, has “emotionally and economically devastated” Gruffudd and his new wife, Bianca Wallace.Evans, seen here smiling as she arrived at courrt, is asking the judge to force Gruffudd to increase the $1,500 he's paying her monthly in spousal support. He's already paying an agreed $3,570 a month in child support for their two daughters

During the closing arguments of a Los Angeles Superior Court hearing, Langlois emphasized that Evans’ actions led to severe damage to Gruffudd’s reputation, pushing his income down to a fraction of what it once was. He explained that in the three years prior to their divorce in 2021, Gruffudd earned an average of $585,000 annually. However, since the breakup, his income has dropped drastically, and he now struggles financially, even borrowing money for daily expenses. In March Judge Convey slapped Evans with a five-year restraining order over her barrage of negative online posts about Gruffudd, and his second wife Bianca Wallace

In addition to the emotional toll, Langlois argued that Gruffudd has already overpaid Evans by nearly $400,000 in spousal support. Evans is now requesting an increase to the $1,500 monthly amount, even as Gruffudd continues to pay $3,570 in child support for their two daughters, Ella, 16, and Elsie, 12.

Evans’ relentless social media campaign, which falsely accused Gruffudd of being a “deadbeat dad” and even made harrowing allegations of child abuse, was described by Langlois as a deliberate attempt to destroy his client’s career. The barrage of derogatory comments was said to have contributed to Gruffudd’s drastic financial and professional decline.

Evans’ actions led to a five-year restraining order issued in March by Judge Michael Convey, who condemned her online harassment. The court found that her actions had not only caused reputational harm but had also led to violent threats directed at both Gruffudd and Wallace from her followers.Evans and Gruffudd are pictured here with their two daughters Ella and Elsie in 2018

Langlois further stated that continuing to pay spousal support would be “financing his own abuse,” highlighting the emotional scars left by Evans’ prolonged attacks. He emphasized that Gruffudd’s career, built over many years, had been irreparably damaged by the false narratives, with little chance of recovery.

Despite Evans shedding “a few tears” in court, Langlois argued there had been no real remorse for the damage caused.

The battle continues as Gruffudd seeks to terminate his spousal support obligations, citing the terms of their pre-marital agreement and his continued financial sacrifice to Evans, including living expenses and a rent-free home for two years after their separation.Gruffudd with new wife Bianca Wallace, whom he met while filming the TV series Harrow in Australia while he was still married

Evans, meanwhile, maintains that she is struggling financially and is requesting an increase in support. She has made no effort to find work, despite being fluent in several languages and highly capable, according to Gruffudd’s legal team.

Gruffudd, now married to Bianca Wallace, whom he met while filming Harrow in Australia, welcomed their daughter in November of last year. The actor’s new life with Wallace stands in stark contrast to the painful legal battles of the past few years.
