Rapper and Celebs Go Dating star Professor Green, 42, has revealed a worrying health update, sharing that tumours have been discovered on his spine and behind his eye. The rapper, known for his candidness about his personal life, opened up about the situation on his Instagram over the weekend, informing his 927k followers.
A Difficult Health Journey
In a heartfelt post, Professor Green reassured his fans that the tumours are benign but explained the complications that come with his diagnosis. He shared that he has been living with schwannomatosis, a condition that causes the growth of benign tumours on his nerve sheaths. “My nerve sheath tumours are thankfully benign, but chronic and not without complications – some more than others depending on their location,” he wrote.
The rapper went on to detail his health struggles, explaining that, after having four growths removed from his head and neck, he recently discovered new tumours: one behind his left eye and three along his spine. “Two smaller lesions at T5 and T6, and one the size of a blemmin’ lime around my S2 nerve,” he noted.
Mental and Physical Struggles
Professor Green admitted the physical pain from his condition had led to mental anguish, especially after worrying for weeks about whether the tumours were benign or malignant. “After a good few weeks of worrying about whether or not they were benign or malignant, I feel as though, as painful as this is (I thought it was ‘just’ worsening sciatica), the trauma I went through in my head living out worst-case scenarios was worse,” he shared.
Despite the intense pain, he spoke about coming to a place of acceptance, focusing on not letting cyclical thoughts and catastrophizing take over. “I’ve come to a place of acceptance – this is how I’ll experience life, there’s no way around it, and that’s okay,” he said.
