Boyzone’s final farewell was meant to be a night of nostalgia, tears and celebration — but fans were left deeply concerned after Mikey Graham appeared for only a small part of the band’s long-awaited return.
The Irish group reunited at London’s Emirates Stadium for their One For The Road farewell shows, marking the first time the surviving members had performed together in nearly seven years. Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch opened the night, but Mikey’s absence from much of the set quickly sparked confusion among the crowd.

The 53-year-old later appeared on stage to perform a limited number of songs, including Words, before returning for the encore. Reports said he sang just four songs in total and was seated for much of his time on stage.
For many fans, it was an emotional but worrying sight.
Social media quickly filled with questions, with some asking where Mikey was and why he had not been part of the full show. Others defended him, urging people not to speculate and simply saying they were glad to see him back with the band at all.
At the time of reporting, neither Boyzone nor Mikey had publicly given an explanation for his limited appearance. That silence only added to fans’ concern, especially because the gig had been promoted as a final chance to see Ronan, Keith, Shane and Mikey together again.
Even so, when Mikey did walk onto the stage, the crowd erupted. 💛

For longtime Boyzone supporters, his presence carried huge emotional weight. He has often been known as the quieter member of the group, and his relationship with the band has appeared more complicated in recent years. In the Sky documentary Boyzone: No Matter What, Mikey spoke candidly about wanting to step away from the pressures of the band’s old world.
That made his return all the more poignant.
The farewell concerts were never meant to signal a full reunion. Ronan Keating previously insisted the Emirates shows were not about new music or a world tour, but a final chance to say goodbye on the band’s own terms. He said London felt like the right place to close the chapter, because it was where Boyzone first found their footing after leaving Dublin in the 1990s.
The night was also filled with emotion because of Stephen Gately.
The late singer, who died in 2009 aged 33, remained at the heart of the show. Keith Duffy previously said every performance without Stephen included a moment to honour him, adding that Boyzone would not be on stage without him. Ronan also said that when the four surviving members are together, they still feel Stephen in the room.
Fans at the Emirates said the tribute was deeply moving, with the band wearing red in honour of Stephen’s favourite colour and speaking about their bond as five.
That mix of grief, nostalgia and celebration made Mikey’s limited appearance even more noticeable.
Boyzone were one of the defining boy bands of the 1990s, selling more than 25 million records worldwide and scoring a long run of UK Top 10 singles. Their hits — from No Matter What to Love Me For A Reason — became the soundtrack to a generation of fans who grew up with their harmonies, ballads and boyband charm.
Now, three decades later, the farewell show was about more than music.
It was about memory.
About friendship.
About loss.
And about fans saying goodbye to a band that shaped their youth. ✨
For some, the night was still magical. They praised the vocals, the emotion and the chance to witness the end of an era. For others, Mikey’s absence from much of the performance left disappointment, especially among those who had travelled far or paid to see all four surviving members together.
Both reactions can be true.
The joy of seeing Boyzone return was real.
So was the concern for Mikey.

Until the band chooses to explain more, fans are left with unanswered questions — but also with one final memory of Mikey standing beside Ronan, Keith and Shane, however briefly, as Boyzone closed a chapter that began more than 30 years ago.
It may not have been the farewell everyone expected.
But it was still a farewell filled with love, sadness and the unmistakable sound of a band saying goodbye. 🕊️
