Donna Air Mourns the Loss of Her Beloved Father, Trevor, After Battle with Cancer
Donna Air, the beloved actress known for her roles in Byker Grove and The Split, has shared a heartbreaking tribute to her father, Trevor, who passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer. The 46-year-old star took to Instagram to announce the tragic news, describing her father’s death as the “hardest thing” she has ever faced.
In her emotional post, Donna shared a series of precious photos with her late father, paying tribute to the man she described as her “favourite dance partner.” Her touching words read: “A week without Dad. Everything seems off since you left.”
She continued, “Saying goodbye was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I find comfort knowing we were together, that you felt loved, and that you are no longer suffering.”
Donna spoke poignantly about the impact cancer had on her family, sharing how it took away too much from her father and caused unbearable pain. “Cancer is such a cruel disease. Watching it take so much from you and seeing the pain you endured broke my heart. Witnessing so many families going through the same journey has changed my life,” she wrote.
In her tribute, Donna fondly remembered the lighter moments spent with Trevor, calling him her “favourite dance partner.” She reflected on their shared love for music, nature, and the simple joys of life. “I will miss you so much, including your silly sense of humor (even at the end), your cheeky smile, your untimely jokes, and the love we shared for music, nature, and freedom,” Donna said.
She added, “You believed in the simple things in life, that we’re all equal, and that we should share this world with kindness, respect, and love.”
Donna also took a moment to thank the hospice team at Wansbeck Hospital, who supported her family through the difficult final months. “I am so grateful to the palliative care team at Wansbeck Hospital, who became our second home for the last six months, and to the kindness and support of our dear friends,” Donna expressed.
Concluding her message, Donna wrote: “But above all, I am grateful to you, Dad. For the life you gave me, the sacrifices you made, the memories we shared, and for fighting so hard so that we could have more moments together.”
