Zoe Ball Opens Up About Daughter Nelly’s ADHD Diagnosis: A Family Journey of Understanding
In a heartfelt and candid interview, Zoe Ball has shared that her 16-year-old daughter, Nelly, has been diagnosed with ADHD, marking the third family member to be affected by the condition. The 55-year-old broadcaster, who herself has ADHD, opened up about the impact it has had on their family and how they are learning to navigate it together.

Speaking to The Mirror, Zoe revealed that Nelly has been taking medication to manage her symptoms, particularly at school. “It’s been a journey,” Zoe said, explaining how learning about Nelly’s experiences has also helped her better understand her own condition. “I always talk about having ADHD because learning about their experiences has helped me understand mine better,” she added.
Zoe shared with pride how Nelly has begun to implement small but effective changes to bring structure into her routine, which has often been a challenge for those with ADHD. “Nell started a new routine where every Sunday night, she tidies her room, gets her things ready for school, and has a nice shower,” Zoe said. “I’ve loved seeing her find this for herself. It’s made me realize how much order really helps.”

The ADHD diagnosis is not new to the family. In 2023, Zoe publicly revealed her own diagnosis of ADHD, and in 2024, her son Woody, 25, discussed how the condition has influenced his career as a DJ, referring to his energetic, fast-paced style as his “unique selling point.” Woody has embraced his condition as part of what makes him stand out in his industry.
The Ball-Cook family, including Zoe’s ex-husband, Norman Cook (better known as DJ Fatboy Slim), have continued to co-parent their children, Nelly and Woody, with unity and humor. Despite their 2016 split, Zoe and Norman remain close, even joking about their family dynamic during the holidays.

Zoe also celebrated a special milestone earlier this year, as Nelly turned 16 in January. Zoe shared a touching tribute on social media, posting a series of childhood photos of Nelly alongside a sweet message, “Happy Sweet 16 BG ♥️ love you Nelly Noodle.” Woody, too, expressed his love for his sister, sharing his own heartfelt tribute, “Happy Birthday to my Favourite Sister I’ll ever have!!!!!!!”
Through their openness about ADHD, Zoe and her family are working to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding the condition. By sharing their personal experiences, they hope to inspire others living with ADHD, proving that a diagnosis is just one part of who they are, not something that defines them.
