Vogue Williams has joined the debate surrounding Steven Bartlett after the podcaster sparked ridicule for claiming that just a few glasses of wine left him “off his game” for three days.
Speaking on My Therapist Ghosted Me, Vogue and her co-host Joanne McNally suggested Bartlett had become too obsessed with self-optimisation, from sleep and fitness to health tracking.
Vogue joked that people can sometimes be at their funniest and most natural when they are not trying to control every part of their lives. She added that it feels as though Bartlett is “only connecting with himself” rather than truly living.
Joanne agreed, warning that constantly monitoring the body through technology can make people more anxious and isolated.
Greg James had also criticised the growing “optimisation” culture, urging people to switch off their fitness trackers and enjoy life a little more.
