After a year marked by fear, resilience, and quiet strength, Sally Dynevor is choosing hope as she looks to 2026, despite another devastating health battle in her family. The Coronation Street star, 61, has opened up about how her life was turned upside down when her husband, screenwriter Tim Dynevor, was diagnosed with cancer.
Sally and Timâs bond has been tested in ways they never expected, but their connection has only grown stronger. â2026 feels like a year of hope for us,â Sally shared, reflecting on the trials theyâve faced. âWeâve had some incredibly tough times. Iâve had cancer myself, and now Tim is going through his diagnosis â but weâre facing it all together.â
Revisiting the Fear of Cancer
For Sally, Timâs diagnosis has brought back memories of her own cancer battle in 2009. At that time, she was treated for breast cancer, a storyline eerily similar to her character on Coronation Street. She underwent surgery and months of chemotherapy, recovering physically, but admitting that the emotional scars never truly fade.
âCancer changes everything,â she said. âIt forces you to confront mortality in a way that nothing else does â especially as a parent.â
Sally and Tim share three children: actress Phoebe Dynevor, 29, Harriet, 21, and Samuel, 27. She acknowledged that cancer doesnât just affect the person diagnosed; it touches everyone around them. âYou want to shield your children from the fear,â Sally explained. âBut when cancer enters your life, it pulls everyone in with it.â

Turning Pain Into Purpose
Sally has been a passionate advocate for Prevent Breast Cancer for over 20 years, long before her own diagnosis. Today, her dedication carries an even deeper sense of purpose as she supports the charityâs Big Give Christmas Challenge, a campaign that doubles donations to fund life-saving research.
âThis cause was important to me before, but now, as a survivor and as a wife supporting my husband, it means everything,â she shared.
Her simple but powerful hope is that future generations wonât have to endure the same fear. âThere is extraordinary research happening right now,â Sally said. âI truly believe that by the time my children are my age, cancer wonât carry the same weight or terror it does today.â
Moving Forward, Hand in Hand
Although the road ahead is uncertain, Sally remains focused on one thing:Â gratitude. âWe donât take anything for granted anymore,â she revealed. âThereâs so much to be thankful for, and weâre choosing to look ahead.â
As she sets her sights on 2026, Sallyâs message is clear: hope isnât about ignoring fear. Itâs about facing it together, hand in hand. And whatever challenges lie ahead, the Dynevors are determined to face them as a family.
