Wayne Lineker Breaks Silence On Viral Ibiza Meltdown And Gary Rift

As Wayne Lineker moves back to the White Isle for this summer season, his focus has shifted from drinks, drugs and partying to health and fitness (pictured at his O Beach Ibiza club in 2020)🌴 Wayne Lineker built his name as Ibiza’s ultimate party king — but now the 64-year-old says he has swapped vodka, Red Bull and all-night chaos for water, fasting, fitness and family.

For years, Wayne was known for flaunting his wild lifestyle at O Beach Ibiza, posing with celebrities and embracing the reputation of a man who could party harder than almost anyone on the island.

But after a frightening health scare, a viral video that exposed just how out of control things had become, and a painful family warning, Wayne says he has completely changed his life.

And this time, he insists there is no going back.

¿Every day is a blessing for me. I shouldn¿t really be here,¿ the 64-year-old says💔 “Every day is a blessing for me,” Wayne said, admitting he believes he should not really be here.

The nightclub owner has estimated that he consumed around 52,000 drinks over 13 years, while also using drugs during a period when he says he was living on “vodka and Red Bull and cheese toasties.”

Now approaching one year sober, Wayne says his priorities have changed completely.

Instead of late nights in clubs, he is in bed before 11pm.

Instead of alcohol, he orders water.

Instead of being the first man into O Beach and the last man out, he now limits his time there to just a few hours a day.

'Gary and I had that time apart, many years apart. But now, we speak often,' says Wayne of his relationship with his brother⚠️ His wake-up call was brutal.

Just five months into his sobriety journey, Wayne was rushed to hospital after suffering two severe bouts of pneumonia.

He spent seven weeks in hospital and says he came dangerously close to death twice.

According to Wayne, doctors even prepared his son Sean for the possibility that he might not survive.

That moment changed everything.

He said it took months for his body to recover properly, with strange aches, pains and weakness lingering long after he left hospital.

Now, he is determined to repair the damage and stay alive long enough to see his grandchildren grow up and get married.

After years of seeing him at his worst, the doctor reportedly told Wayne during a recent check-up that he had never seen him in such good condition.

Wayne says his blood tests were “phenomenal” for his age, and he believes the results prove that quitting drink and drugs has changed his body.

His new routine is strict.

He goes to the gym every morning.

He fasts from night until lunchtime.

He also does longer water fasts lasting between four and seven days.

He eats healthier food and takes supplements and peptides as part of his health-focused lifestyle.

For Wayne, the difference is simple.

He wakes up fresh — and he says that feeling is “amazing.”

Wayne has four children — sons Duane, Sean and Freddie, and daughter Tia — as well as three grandchildren.

He has admitted that his drinking had begun to affect those closest to him.

The most painful moment came when his son Duane reportedly told him it was no longer safe for him to pick up his grandchildren from school because of his drinking.

That warning hit hard.

Wayne’s final drink was a glass of red wine at Ibiza airport on July 7, while waiting for a flight back to Stansted.

Soon after, he spent time at a spa before checking into The Priory Life Works House rehab facility in Surrey for six weeks.

🌊 Returning to Ibiza sober was not easy.

Wayne first flew back to the island in April, but after just a couple of weeks he realised he was not mentally ready for the party scene.

Going straight back into O Beach was too difficult.

He returned home, regrouped, and made a better plan.

Now that he is back in Ibiza for the summer, he says he will stay — but on very different terms.

He wants structure, routine and fewer hours at the club.

His focus is no longer being the centre of the party.

It is staying healthy and spending more time with his family.

🤝 That family healing includes his brother Gary Lineker.

Wayne and Gary’s relationship was strained for years, with the pair reportedly enduring a 17-year rift.

Neither brother has gone into full detail about the fallout, though it has long been linked to tensions around Gary’s then-fiancée Danielle Bux.

But Wayne says things are now much better.

He revealed that he and Gary speak often and that he is close to Gary’s children.

Gary recently visited Ibiza for his son’s wedding, though Wayne joked that his brother stayed well away from O Beach because it was not really his scene.

For Wayne, the repaired bond is another sign that his life is moving in the right direction.

📹 One of the most humiliating moments before rehab was the viral Ibiza video.

The clip showed Wayne heavily intoxicated and appearing to try to take over from a DJ at O Beach, while his business partner Tony Truman stepped in.

Wayne says Tony later pulled him into the office and told him bluntly that he could not behave like that because it was bad for business.

At first, Wayne was in denial.

Now, he admits his behaviour was out of control.

He credits his business partners with pushing him toward rehab and says their relationship has improved since he became sober.

🌟 Instead of partying, Wayne is now planning a very different Ibiza future.

He wants to make vlogs exploring the island’s beaches, hotels and restaurants.

After years of showing the wild side of Ibiza, he now wants to show its beauty.

He says the project will keep him busy, give him purpose and allow him to use his profile in a more positive way.

His goal is simple: keep his routine, stay sober, go to bed and wake up at the same time, and focus on his health, family and new content.

❤️ Wayne’s message now is surprisingly humble.

For a man once known for excess, glamour and outrageous nights, he now speaks like someone who knows he was given a second chance.

He no longer wants to be remembered only for wild parties or viral mistakes.

He wants to be around for his children and grandchildren.

He wants to stay alive.

And he wants others to believe change is possible.

As he puts it, if Wayne Lineker can give up drink and drugs and turn his life around, then anyone can.

🌴 The King of Ibiza may still be on the island — but this summer, he is living by very different rules.
