Sophie Habboo Reveals Heartbreaking Reason Behind Her ‘Sadness’ When Looking at Wedding Photos with Jamie Laing

Sophie Habboo, the former Made in Chelsea star, has revealed the emotional reason that makes her feel “sad” whenever she looks back at her wedding photos. The 31-year-old star and her husband, Jamie Laing, 37, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in London in April 2023.

The couple later hosted a second, larger wedding with 250 guests in Marbella, Spain, a month after their intimate celebration. However, Sophie admitted that she struggled with extreme anxiety in the lead-up to the wedding, which led her to seek help from a therapist.

Sophie shared that she was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) after her therapist suggested further examination. Sophie explained that the anxiety she felt before her wedding reached such a level that she began to “lose control” and decided to get professional help.

Reflecting on her struggles, Sophie said: “I’m still figuring myself out; it’s been a long process.” She spoke about how Jamie was very excited about a grand wedding, wanting a white-themed ceremony with many guests and a grand white suit. Sophie, on the other hand, wanted something much smaller with just 20 people, saying, “I wanted to get married with my feet in the sand.”

Despite her preferences, Sophie’s family and loved ones encouraged her to dream of a big wedding. “Everyone around me, including Jamie, envisioned this grand white wedding, but it overwhelmed me and triggered severe anxiety.”

Sophie also shared that her podcast, which she hosts with Jamie, had become unexpectedly popular, adding to her feelings of being overwhelmed and triggering what she calls “imposter syndrome.” “Everyone seemed so happy for me, congratulating us, and I wondered why I couldn’t handle it,” she admitted.

The situation escalated to the point where Sophie felt her anxiety worsening. She explained how the pressure of performing in the public eye made her feel like she was failing. “I’ve always wanted to be in the entertainment industry, to stand on stage and perform. Why couldn’t I handle all this attention?” she said.

Sophie continued, saying, “I didn’t want a grand wedding with 250 people, but I never spoke up about it. I kept everything inside, and that only made things worse. Looking back, I feel sad because I really struggled with it.”

After seeking therapy, Sophie said the diagnosis of ADHD helped her understand her struggles better. “It was a relief to know what I was dealing with. ADHD explains so much of my experiences, but it’s not easy to control,” she shared.

Despite everything, Sophie has no regrets about her wedding plans. “We didn’t cancel anything, even though I was struggling. I just didn’t think it was an option,” she said.

Now, Sophie plans to reaffirm her wedding vows in a way that truly reflects her desires. Following the arrival of their first child in late 2025, Sophie and Jamie have also shared their harrowing birth story, with Sophie having to undergo an emergency cesarean section due to complications during labor.

Jamie described the experience as the scariest moment of his life, saying, “Seeing my wife go through that, and not being able to do anything, was the worst thing I’ve ever faced.” Sophie added, “It wasn’t the birth I planned, but it was a miracle that our baby arrived healthy. The doctors were amazing.”
