Sarah Greene has opened up about the unexpected love story that helped her find happiness again after years of heartbreak.
The beloved BBC presenter, 68, lost her husband, broadcaster Mike Smith, in 2014. His death left a huge void in her life, and Sarah continued to keep his memory close in the years that followed.
But more than a decade later, love quietly returned in a way she never imagined.
Sarah is now in a relationship with Robb Gravett, a former British Touring Car champion who was also one of Mike’s closest friends.
Speaking on the My Time Capsule podcast, Sarah revealed that Robb began leaving thoughtful messages on her answering machine. At first, she believed he was simply being kind, but over time she realised their bond had grown into something deeper.
Sarah admitted she sometimes feels Mike may have had a hand in bringing them together, as though he was gently “pulling strings” from above.
Starting a new relationship was emotional for Sarah, especially because Mike’s photos still remain around her home. But Robb’s reaction moved her deeply.
He told her it would feel strange if Mike’s pictures were not there — because he loved him too.
For Sarah, that moment showed this was not about replacing the past. It was about love, understanding and shared memories.
Her story is a touching reminder that grief and happiness can live side by side — and sometimes, the heart finds a second chance when it least expects it.
