Philip Schofield Opens Up on Life After Affair Scandal: “Utterly Brutal” but Finally Content

Three years after the scandal that ended his long-running ITV career, former This Morning host Philip Schofield has broken his silence, describing the period as “utterly brutal.”

The 64-year-old stepped away from the limelight in May 2023 following an affair with a younger colleague, a revelation that left his reputation in tatters and strained personal relationships, including with longtime friend Holly Willoughby, who cut ties completely.Philip Schofield left This Morning in May 2023

Speaking to the Mail, Philip admitted he has now adjusted to a quieter, drama-free life. “I decided a while ago that I just wanted a quiet life with family, friends I can trust, and my dog,” he said, hinting at the changes since his high-profile fall from grace.Phillip Schofield's very different life as he speaks out on 'utterly brutal' career end | Wales Online

Reflecting on the past, he continued: “The past few years were, as you know, utterly brutal on so many levels, and I came to terms with the fact that there was no way back.”

Philip’s personal life has been through upheaval. Married to Stephanie since 1993, he came out as gay on This Morning in 2020. Following the affair, the couple separated but remained married, and Philip described the moment he told Stephanie: “She was very, very angry.”Philip met the man he had an affair with when he was a teen - years before they started a relationship

Despite the public scrutiny, Philip has leaned on his family. His daughters, Molly, 32, and Ruby, 29, have supported him through the saga. Speaking on Channel 5’s Philip Schofield: Cast Away, Molly said: “When my dad came out, it was very hard for the entire family… But we talked through it, and over time it’s got easier.
