Parent Trap Star Hayley Mills Fined From Hospital After 28mph Speeding Case

Hayley Mills, at the BFI Southbank in 2021, has been fined for speeding in her Mercedes-Benz⚖️ Beloved British actress Hayley Mills has been fined for speeding while she remains in hospital recovering from emergency surgery.

The 80-year-old star, best known around the world for playing twins Susan and Sharon in Disney’s 1961 classic The Parent Trap, was caught driving her grey diesel Mercedes-Benz at 28mph in a 20mph zone.

The offence took place on October 29 last year on the A306 Rocks Lane in Barnes, near her reported £1million home.

Mills did not appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court in South West London today, as she is currently recovering in hospital following an emergency hernia operation.

Mills is best known for her dual role as twins Susan and Sharon in 1961 film The Parent Trap💔 Her partner, actor and writer Firdous Bamji, contacted the court on her behalf.

In an email, he explained that Mills had recently undergone emergency surgery for a hernia and remained in hospital.

A message from Mills was also passed to the court, in which the actress said: “It is with great regret that I am unable to come to court.”

The surgery reportedly took place on June 2, leaving the screen legend unable to attend the hearing in person.

Despite her absence, the case went ahead.

Hayley Mills Turns 80 — Inside Her Surprising Life After Disney Fame🚗 The court heard that Mills had already admitted exceeding the speed limit.

She was fined £100, ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge, and given three penalty points on her driving licence.

Prosecutor Matt Longhurst referred to Mills in court as a “childhood actress and national treasure.”

He also noted that she already had three penalty points on her licence from a previous speeding offence.

The new penalty brings further attention to a difficult moment for the actress, who is dealing with legal consequences while also recovering from surgery.

📨 The case reached court because a fixed penalty fine was not paid within the time limit.

Mills said she had not received the original notification letter because she was away visiting a friend who had suffered a stroke.

Bench chairman John Soones accepted that explanation and said the fine would be reverted back to the original fixed penalty level.

He said the missed deadline had happened on “reasonable grounds” because Mills had not been at home.

That meant the punishment remained at the lower fixed-penalty amount rather than increasing further.

🌟 For many fans, Hayley Mills remains one of Britain’s most cherished screen stars.

The daughter of legendary actor Sir John Mills and actress-writer Mary Hayley Bell, she became a household name as a child actress and went on to enjoy a career spanning decades.

Her role in The Parent Trap made her a Disney icon, with generations of viewers remembering her charming double performance as separated twin sisters trying to reunite their parents.

She also appeared in a string of Disney films and became officially recognised as a Disney Legend.

🏆 Her career achievements include two Baftas and three Golden Globes.

Mills also starred in the film adaptation of Whistle Down the Wind, based on the novel written by her mother.

In later years, she continued to appear on British television, with roles in shows including Unforgotten, Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders and The Wheel of Time.

Her long career has made her one of the most recognisable actresses of her generation.

💫 Today’s court hearing was a very different kind of headline for the actress.

Rather than a red carpet appearance or career celebration, Mills found herself fined over a low-level speeding offence while recovering from an unexpected hospital operation.

The case was relatively minor, but the timing made it more striking.

At 80, and while still in hospital, the actress was represented through written communication rather than attending court herself.

❤️ For fans, the news is likely to spark sympathy as much as surprise.

Mills admitted the offence, explained why the fixed penalty was missed, and the court accepted there were reasonable grounds for the delay.

The fine has now been dealt with, leaving the actress to focus on her recovery.

After decades as one of Britain’s most loved performers, Hayley Mills now faces a quieter challenge away from the screen: getting better after emergency surgery.
