Olly Murs Completes Gruelling Charity Challenge, Raises Over £830,000 for Soccer Aid
Olly Murs has completed one of the toughest endurance challenges of his life — and in the process, has raised an astonishing £832,257 for Soccer Aid for UNICEF.
The Troublemaker singer embarked on the 249-mile (400km) “Into The Unknown” challenge, running, rowing, and cycling from Manchester to London over five days to mark the 20th anniversary of Soccer Aid. Starting on Monday 11 May and concluding on Friday 15 May, Murs faced demanding terrain, torrential rain, and a final leg through St Albans, overcoming obstacles including having to remove a toenail before setting out on the longest stage.

Murs, a father of two, was inspired to take on the challenge after a recent UNICEF visit to Bucharest, where he witnessed the impact of Soccer Aid projects on displaced Ukrainian children. His determination was unwavering despite the physical toll. “I was absolutely moved,” he told This Morning. “The final leg from central London was so painful, but I kept thinking about the difference Soccer Aid makes for children around the world”.

The fundraising total continues to climb, with organisers urging supporters to help push the total to £1 million before the charity football match on Sunday 31 May 2026 at London Stadium. This year, the England team, co-captained by Robbie Williams, will face the World XI, led by athletics legend Usain Bolt. Tickets for the match start at £20 for adults and £10 for children, with around 60,000 fans expected to attend.
A special documentary capturing Murs’ challenge will air on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm on Friday 29 May, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at his grueling journey. Murs is also set to play for England during the match, marking his first appearance at Soccer Aid since 2021.
Murs’ achievement highlights not only his personal endurance and commitment but also the continued success of Soccer Aid in raising vital funds for UNICEF’s work with vulnerable children worldwide.
