Nicola Roberts Opens Up About Pregnancy Surgery: “It’s Been a Tough Journey”
Nicola Roberts, the beloved Girls Aloud singer, has revealed the emotional journey she’s been on during her pregnancy, sharing a heartfelt update with fans. The 40-year-old star, now 34 weeks pregnant, took to social media to share her experience of undergoing surgery at 22 weeks to “help keep baby in.”
In a candid post, Nicola explained how the surgery was a crucial part of her journey, with doctors advising her to rest during the final trimester. She expressed relief at reaching the 34-week milestone, but also shared the bittersweet feeling of missing her baby bump as she prepares for the arrival of her little one. “It will be nice to feel more comfortable again but I will also really miss my bump and having this tiny little thing in there,” she wrote.
Nicola previously announced in January that she had to pull out of her final performances in the West End musical Hadestown due to the surgery, which had made it difficult for her to continue her stage career while pregnant.
Despite the challenges, Nicola has been staying positive and making the most of her bed rest. She posted several adorable updates, including snaps of her enjoying a cuppa in bed with her growing bump on display, and relaxing with an ice lolly in the car during the recent warm weather. As part of her recovery, she shared how she has been enjoying The Real Housewives series, finding joy in the little things during this special time.
Nicola’s pregnancy announcement came on Christmas Day when she shared the magical news with her fiancé Mitch Hahn. The couple, who got engaged a year ago during a romantic trip to the South of France, is excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first child.
Earlier this month, Nicola celebrated with a Bridgerton-themed baby shower, where she was joined by Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh and TV presenter Laura Whitmore. The intimate gathering marked a joyous moment as Nicola’s journey into motherhood continues.
Nicola’s pregnancy journey has been filled with both challenges and triumphs, but as she enters the final weeks, she remains positive and grateful for the love and support of her fans, friends, and family.
