Niall Horan Fears Hip Replacement as He Struggles with Ongoing Health Issues: ‘My Knees Are F*ed, Now My Hips Are Going Too’”**
Niall Horan, the 32-year-old former One Direction star, has opened up about his ongoing battle with debilitating health problems, revealing his fears of needing a hip replacement after years of knee issues.
In a candid interview on The Zach Sang Show, Niall shared that his joints have been giving him constant trouble, with his knees already causing significant problems. “My knees are f***ed,” he admitted, adding that his hips are now “going too.” The pop star has been grappling with his genetic predisposition to joint issues, as both his father and uncle have undergone multiple joint replacements.
“My dad is 66 this year,” Niall explained. “He’s just had a knee replacement, and he had a hip done 18 months ago. He’s getting another hip done now.” When it was pointed out that his father is more than twice his age, Niall responded, “I know, but it was clearly in there. My uncle had two knees done. Like, it’s a thing. I think I was just ruined from the day I was born.”
Despite his ongoing health challenges, Niall has kept pushing forward in his career and personal life. He also reflected on the emotional inspiration behind his latest album, Dinner Party, revealing that his girlfriend, Amelia Woolley, was a muse for several of the tracks. “She did a lot of crying,” he joked, while admitting that their relationship has brought him both joy and deep emotional connection.
Niall also spoke about his tribute song End of an Era, written in memory of his late One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, who tragically passed away in 2024. Reflecting on the grief and shock of hearing the news, Niall recalled, “I just remember getting a message, and I was just like, ‘What?…’ I just didn’t think it was real.”
In the emotional track, Niall sings: “We had it / Pure magic / Remember what it was like / Time passes / So fast and / I couldn’t tell you goodbye.” The song captures the deep sorrow and nostalgia he feels for the loss of a close friend.
On a more personal note, Niall gushed about his relationship with Amelia, calling her “amazing” and sharing how their simple life together has brought him much-needed peace. “Having someone to rant with and listen to and be listened to is huge,” he said. “I’m glad I found it.”
