Jodie Marsh Faces Assault Charge After Confronting Neighbor Over Animal Dispute
Jodie Marsh has been charged with assault following a confrontation with her neighbor over her animals. The former glamour model, now 47, allegedly “lost it” during a heated exchange, putting her hands on the neighbor’s neck after claiming he had launched a “campaign of harassment” against her.
Marsh, who runs the animal rescue center Fripps Farm in Lindsell, Essex, described how her neighbor filmed her animals and edited the footage to make them appear “skeletal” after trespassing on her property. In an emotional interview, she recounted the incident, saying, “I put my hand on his neck because I leaned in to whisper to him. I can’t even remember what I said because I was so upset. It lasted around 30 seconds. I’m scared to sleep in my own house. I’m scared to go out.”
The charge stems from an incident on January 16, where Essex Police were called to reports of Marsh behaving aggressively and making verbal threats towards her neighbor. Marsh, who has since denied causing any injury, is due to appear in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of common assault and using threatening or abusive behavior.
While common assault carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison, Marsh maintains that she did not hurt her neighbor in any way, stating, “I didn’t actually injure him in any way.”
Fripps Farm, home to over 250 animals including alpacas, emus, and reptiles, is a haven for animals saved from slaughter, and Marsh has long been vocal about her mission to give a loving home to animals at risk of being euthanized. However, her farm has faced its share of controversy, including ongoing disputes with neighbors and previous court battles over her right to keep exotic animals, such as lemurs and meerkats.
In a previous legal victory, Marsh successfully appealed a council decision to refuse her wild animal license, despite concerns raised about the noise caused by her animals. She also faced criticism from trolls who targeted her for various decisions, including taking a meerkat to the pub.
This latest charge marks another chapter in Marsh’s turbulent journey as she continues her work with animals, battling both public criticism and legal challenges along the way.
