Jesy Nelson Shares Heartbreaking Update on Twin Daughters’ Health Battle: “It Made Me Really Sad”

Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional update on her twin daughters’ fight against a rare genetic condition, revealing that they have now been fitted with leg splints to help with their physical challenges. 😢

The former Little Mix star, 34, welcomed her daughters, Ocean and Story, in May with her ex-fiancé, Zion Foster. In January, Jesy bravely opened up about the twins being diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1) — a devastating neuromuscular disease that affects motor nerve cells in the spinal cord. Without treatment, SMA1 has a life expectancy of less than two years. 💔

In an emotional Instagram video, Jesy revealed that the twins’ feet were “pointing” and that they would need splints to help straighten them. Holding the tiny, heart-covered splints, Jesy confessed, “It made me really sad… it’s just another reminder of what they’re going through.” 😢

Heartbreaking Challenges:
Jesy has been open about the journey since the diagnosis, sharing her pain and documenting her daughters’ progress on social media. Despite the grim prognosis, she continues to fight for her girls, hoping to raise awareness and inspire change.

She shared, “So today, I had to pick up the girls’ splints… it made me really sad. But it’s just another part of the journey.” Jesy also posted photos of the splints, with one decorated with hearts for Story and butterflies for Ocean, saying, “Have you ever seen anything cuter in your life?” 🦋💖

Alongside the emotional updates, Jesy has been vocal about her efforts to have SMA included in the heel prick test for newborns — a step that could have helped her daughters receive treatment earlier, possibly saving their legs. “I really believe we can make a change,” Jesy said, reflecting on her ongoing battle. ✊
