Jesy Nelson Shares Emotional Milestone as Daughter Story Says “Muma” for the First Time
Jesy Nelson has shared a moving family moment with fans after her 11-month-old daughter Story Monroe appeared to say “muma” for the first time.
The former Little Mix singer posted a touching video on Instagram showing her baby daughter lying on a sofa, wrapped in a blanket, as she repeatedly made the sound.

Jesy, 34, could be heard reacting with joy and disbelief as Story continued to repeat the word. Clearly overcome, the singer praised her daughter, calling her a “clever girl” and encouraging her to say it again.
Writing over the clip, Jesy said the moment had made her life feel “complete”. She later added in the caption that her heart was “so full”.

The milestone comes after Jesy revealed earlier this year that her twin daughters, Story Monroe and Ocean Jade, had been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy type 1, known as SMA1.
The rare genetic condition affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, leading to progressive muscle weakness. In severe cases, it can affect a child’s ability to move, breathe, swallow and speak.

Story’s first word was therefore especially emotional for Jesy and her supporters. Many fans flooded the comments section with messages of love and encouragement, with several saying the video had moved them to tears.
One fan described the moment as “precious”, while another praised Story as a “beautiful girl”. Others sent support to Jesy, who has been open about the challenges her family has faced since the twins’ diagnosis.
Jesy has continued to update fans on her daughters’ health journey through social media. She has previously shared videos of exercises designed to help strengthen their legs, as well as details of the medical support the girls require.
The singer has also spoken about wanting to use her platform to raise awareness of SMA1 and help other families facing similar circumstances feel less alone.
Jesy, who has more than 10 million Instagram followers, previously said that if sharing her experience helped even one parent, it would be worth it.
For the singer and her family, Story’s first word was more than a simple childhood milestone. It was a deeply hopeful moment — and one that offered followers a glimpse of joy amid an intensely difficult journey.
