Jason Kelce has never been shy about defending his brother Travis — and this time, one ESPN announcer’s mistake was enough to send him into full rant mode.
The former Philadelphia Eagles star was left furious after Travis Kelce was incorrectly described as being from Shaker Heights while attending Game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals with fiancée Taylor Swift.
The problem? Travis and Jason are not from Shaker Heights.
They are from Cleveland Heights — and for the Kelce brothers, that difference matters. A lot. 🔥
Travis, 36, had been sitting courtside with Taylor, also 36, as the Cleveland Cavaliers faced the New York Knicks at Rocket Arena. The couple’s appearance already had fans buzzing, especially after Travis was shown chugging a beer on the jumbotron while Taylor appeared visibly embarrassed beside him.
But while the internet was busy replaying the beer moment, Jason was focused on something else entirely: the broadcast error.
Speaking on the brothers’ New Heights podcast, Jason made it clear he was not happy.
“The one thing I was p***** off about was the f****** announcer said you’re from Shaker Heights,” he said.
For casual viewers, the mistake may have seemed minor. Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights are only a few miles apart. But for Jason and Travis, hometown pride is personal. Their podcast name, New Heights, is itself a tribute to Cleveland Heights, the place where they grew up and built the roots of their football journey.
So when the announcer got it wrong, Travis was just as irritated as Jason.
“God damn it, do your goddamn research,” Travis fired back. “I went on Twitter that I saw, the guy says Shaker Heights, and I was like, you son of a b****, you got no idea.”
It was classic Kelce brother energy: loud, loyal, hilarious and deeply protective of where they came from.
The moment came during a major public outing for Travis and Taylor, who attended the Cavaliers-Knicks playoff clash together. It was the couple’s latest high-profile appearance as speculation continues to swirl around their reported wedding plans.
But the night quickly became memorable for more than just the basketball.
Travis later defended the stunt on New Heights, insisting it was a “classy chug” because he did not spill any beer, did not crush the can and avoided making a mess on the hardwood floor.
Still, the game itself did not go the way Cleveland fans hoped. The Knicks beat the Cavaliers 121-108, pushing Cleveland into a 3-0 series hole before later completing the sweep.
For Travis, that loss clearly stung. But for Jason, the broadcast mistake may have been even harder to forgive.
The Kelce brothers have always carried their Ohio roots proudly. Even after Travis became a Kansas City Chiefs legend and Jason became a Philadelphia Eagles icon, both men have continued to speak openly about Cleveland Heights shaping who they are.
