Jane Fallon Receives Overwhelming Support After Second Cancer Surgery Amid Fake Obituary Scandal

Best-selling author Jane Fallon, 65, has shared a heartfelt update following her second surgery to treat breast cancer, with her fans and friends rallying around her during this challenging time. Fallon, who has been in a relationship with comedian Ricky Gervais for over four decades, posted an image on Instagram showing her legs in compression socks — commonly worn after surgery to prevent blood clots — as she prepared for the procedure.

“Summer’s starting again. Wish me luck,” she captioned the post, which garnered an outpouring of support from her followers, including TV presenter Emma Willis, who wrote: “Sending love and luck to Jane.” Fellow actress Tamzin Outhwaite also offered her well wishes, as did radio presenter Zoe Ball, who commented: “So much love coming your way, J xxx.”

Fallon had previously revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2026, after routine screening revealed a lump. She reassured fans that it was caught early, and the prognosis was “excellent.” Her first surgery took place on March 23, and she followed up with a positive update in early April, sharing that doctors had removed most of the cancerous tissue.

However, it was the second surgery, scheduled to remove a smaller amount of tissue, that prompted the heartfelt Instagram post. Fallon described the procedure as “a little uncomfortable, but nothing to worry about.” Despite the challenges, she remains optimistic and is now recovering at home with Gervais and their cat.

Adding to the emotional toll, Fallon recently spoke out against a fake obituary circulating online following her diagnosis. She condemned the fabricated death notice, which had been shared through a fake fan account of Ricky Gervais. “I took the post down because I didn’t want people to think I was upset about it,” she wrote. “I was annoyed, but more than that, I just wanted people to know that any pictures you see of me in the hospital, looking sad or hooked up to an IV, are 100% AI-generated fake photos.”

The fake obituary has sparked outrage among her supporters, who have labelled it “disgusting” and “slanderous.” Fallon’s followers expressed their anger at the malicious content, which added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.

Despite the online attacks, the outpouring of support from friends, family, and fans has been a source of strength for Fallon as she continues her recovery. Many expressed their hope for her speedy recovery and offered heartfelt words of encouragement, including the message, “Good luck, Jane! Stay strong, you’ve got this!”

As Fallon focuses on her health and recovery, her candid updates on social media have made her a beacon of strength and resilience for others facing similar battles.
