Jake Hall’s Final Hours: Inside the Tragic Death of the TOWIE Star in Majorca

It emerged that the former model, clothing designer and aspiring artist – who found fame on The Only Way is Essex in 2015 – was in an ‘agitated’ state shortly before crashing through the villa’s glass-framed back doorThe party had raged until the early hours. Laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses spilled through the walls of 35-year-old Jake Hall’s rented villa in Santa Margalida, Majorca. Neighbours later described the sound as “like drilling,” a chaotic soundtrack to what would become a night ending in tragedy.

At 7.10am on Wednesday, May 6, the music abruptly stopped. Minutes later, emergency services arrived at the two-bedroom ‘Lluna Blava’ villa, only to find Hall motionless, lying in a pool of his own blood. Shards of glass had pierced his chest and neck. His five companions were questioned by the Spanish Civil Guard before the body was removed at 1pm. Authorities later described the incident as “appears to be an accidental death,” but with Majorca’s autopsy results private, questions remain.

Hall’s life in the months leading up to that morning had been turbulent. Friends revealed he had been grappling with mounting financial pressures, totaling £1.5million in debts, and had previously attempted to take his own life. Concerns over substance use circulated among neighbours, though eyewitness accounts from the villa suggest no alcohol or drugs were present during the fatal incident.

Hall is seen in Marbella, Spain in 2015, during which time he was starring in TOWIE. He left the show in 2016A well-known figure from The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), Hall first appeared on the show in 2015 and remained until 2016. He had also built a reputation as a clothing designer and aspiring artist, with his label Prévu having been worn by celebrities including Stormzy and Bella Hadid. However, financial collapse hit his ventures hard, with both Prévu and his subsequent line, By Jake Hall, entering liquidation. Hall had also recently lost £100,000 to a New York art dealer scam.

Friends close to Hall were deeply concerned about his state of mind in the months leading up to that ill-fated morningIn spite of these setbacks, Hall sought solace on the island he loved. Having spent parts of his childhood in Majorca while his parents invested in property there, the island had always been a “healing place,” as he described in a March Instagram post. On May 5, he arrived at Santa Margalida, carrying only a suitcase and the hope for a restorative escape.

In 2018, Hall was subject to a ‘contact ban’ against his ex-partner Misse Beqiri (pictured with the TOWIE star)The evening began quietly, with Hall hosting a small gathering of friends—locals in their twenties—after a previous night partying in Palma. Yet, the celebration turned fatal. Around 7.15am, 70-year-old construction worker Rafael, a neighbour, heard a loud crash and shattering glass. Seconds later, silence fell. Running across the street, he discovered Hall lying motionless on the villa’s patio, shards of glass embedded in his body.

“I tried to help,” Rafael said. “But there was no sign of life. His friends were shouting, ‘Help, help!’ but it was too late. He had big cuts across his arms and a mark on his head. It was awful.” Despite initial speculation, Rafael saw no signs of intoxication or drug use among Hall or his companions.

On Monday this week – five days after the accident – Hall’s parents, Greg and Jacqueline, as well as brother Sonny, visited the NU Mallorca beach club in the north of the islandThe villa’s back door—a glass-framed frame leading to a small garden—appears to have played a central role in the accident. Hall, reportedly agitated, crashed through it in the early hours, though which guest discovered the body first remains unclear.

Father Greg posted a picture of the sculpture to Facebook alongside the caption: ‘Thank you so much for all your love’Friends and colleagues describe Hall as deeply talented but haunted. His creative pursuits offered him some relief: he had rented a workshop on Majorca to focus on abstract painting and collaborated on artistic retreats named “Cafe 137.” He had also unveiled a 15-foot high sculpture at NU Mallorca beach club in August 2024, gifting designer clothes and performing a live painting session for attendees.

Fred Kelly in Majorca, where he has pieced together an account of the circumstances surrounding Jake Hall's deathYet Hall’s personal life was tumultuous. He and ex-partner Misse Beqiri, mother of his 8-year-old daughter River, had a fraught relationship. In 2018, a contact ban was enforced against Hall, who Beqiri reportedly found controlling. Despite this, Beqiri paid tribute to him on Instagram after his death: “My heart is shattered, and so is our daughter’s. You lit up every room you walked into—your smile, your charm, your energy that filled the air.”

His struggle with fame also left scars. Friends insist that his time on TOWIE contributed to his difficulties. “Being on the show sent him off the rails,” one source told the Daily Mail. “He was up and down, with real problems around alcohol and drugs.” Professional boxing coach Paul Hamilton, who trained Hall at Fit Club Mallorca Gym, reflected similarly. “I tried to guide him, keep him focused. He had so much potential if he committed, but he couldn’t fully embrace it,” Hamilton said.

Financially, Hall had faced enormous pressure. Prévu’s collapse in 2023, followed by the liquidation of By Jake Hall, left debts of £1.49million, including £180,000 owed to HMRC. “I had put my heart and soul into something and one day it got taken away from me,” Hall admitted in a recent interview, emphasizing the impact on his mental health.

Despite these challenges, Hall cherished his daughter. Just hours before his death, he posted an Instagram video featuring River with the caption: “Life is b******s sometimes, but I’m gonna try to remember the good things,” set to The Rolling Stones’ Beast of Burden. His love for art and for his daughter offered him some light in darker times.

Tragedy, however, had marked his past. In Marbella, 2015, Hall survived a nightclub attack where he was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle. He was also pictured with fugitive cocaine baron Gerard Hagan, and his turbulent relationship with Beqiri added another layer of stress and scrutiny.

Following his death, tributes have poured in. Denise Van Outen, TOWIE co-star, offered condolences, while his family visited NU Mallorca beach club to pay respects beneath his 15-foot sculpture. Lilies were placed in a champagne bucket, with father Greg posting: “Thank you so much for all your love.”

Hall’s death now joins a tragic pattern among TOWIE alumni. Jordan Wright, 33, died in Thailand earlier this year. Former cast members Lauren Goodger and Yazmin Oukhellou also suffered devastating losses, fueling speculation among fans about a so-called “TOWIE curse.”

The official cause of Hall’s death remains pending a British coroner’s inquiry, which may include toxicology reports. But for those who knew him, the combination of personal struggles, mental health challenges, and the pressures of fame paint a complex picture.

Jake Hall’s story is a sobering reminder of the fragility behind celebrity lives. A man of creativity, charm, and deep affection for his daughter, he battled demons in private, leaving a legacy of art, love, and heartbreak. As Majorca mourns one of its most vibrant visitors, friends, family, and fans are left grappling with the questions that remain: how, and why, a life so full of potential ended so tragically.
