Holly Hagan, star of Geordie Shore, recently shared a concerning health scare involving her young son, Alpha-Jax Blyth, urging fellow parents to act quickly and seek medical attention when faced with similar symptoms.
In an Instagram post, Holly detailed a frightening experience with her two-year-old son, who developed a visibly swollen eye. What initially seemed like a simple case of conjunctivitis turned out to be something much more serious.
A Sudden Health Scare

Holly explained to her followers that, at first, she thought Alpha-Jax might have had conjunctivitis, a common eye infection. However, a trip to the doctor led to a more alarming diagnosis—peri-orbital cellulitis, a severe infection of the eyelid and surrounding areas. Holly emphasized how quickly the infection developed and how important it was to address it immediately.
She said, “If your child or even you have an eye like this, seek urgent medical treatment immediately.” Periorbital cellulitis can be caused by minor injuries, insect bites, or even scratches. If left untreated, it can escalate to orbital cellulitis, a more severe condition that can lead to complications such as vision loss and brain infections.
The Importance of Swift Action

Holly’s message comes after she received feedback from other parents who initially waited to seek medical help, only to end up in the hospital when the infection worsened. “The doctor told me it’s critical to treat this infection immediately,” she said. “I want to make sure no one else underestimates how quickly it can escalate.”
Thankfully, after starting on antibiotics, Alpha-Jax’s condition has improved, but Holly wanted to raise awareness to prevent other families from facing similar health scares. “Many parents said they waited, only to end up in the hospital,” she shared, emphasizing the importance of swift action.
Balancing Parenthood and Pregnancy

Despite the emotional toll of her son’s health scare, Holly is also embracing the joy of expecting her second child. She and her husband, Jacob Blyth, recently announced they are expecting a baby girl, a moment they celebrated with a heartwarming gender reveal surrounded by family and festive cheer.
A Call to Action for Parents
Holly’s experience serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of paying attention to our children’s health and acting fast when something doesn’t seem right. Periorbital cellulitis may seem like a minor issue at first, but as Holly’s story proves, it can quickly become a serious health concern that requires immediate medical attention.
As Holly continues to support Alpha-Jax’s recovery, she is also encouraging others to stay vigilant and seek medical care promptly, particularly when dealing with eye health in young children.
