Helen Flanagan Reveals Dream of Becoming Foster Parent as Her Children Grow Up
Helen Flanagan, the 35-year-old former Coronation Street actress, has opened up about her aspiration to foster children once her own three children are older. Flanagan, who shares Matilda, 10, Delilah, 7, and Charlie, 5, with ex-partner Scott Sinclair, spoke candidly about her love for children and her desire to provide a safe and caring home for those in need.
The actress, who separated from Sinclair in 2022 after 13 years together, previously faced challenges surrounding their family home, which is owned solely by Sinclair. Despite these personal upheavals, Flanagan has maintained a forward-looking outlook, expressing her commitment to helping children outside her own family.
In an interview with the Daily Star, Flanagan explained: “I absolutely love children. When my own are grown, I think fostering could be an amazing way to give back and support young lives.” She elaborated on the joys and responsibilities of motherhood, highlighting how her experiences raising her three children have reinforced her desire to help others.
Flanagan has been open about the emotional complexities of parenting. She acknowledged moments of guilt and frustration but emphasised her dedication to teaching her children about love, responsibility, and empathy. “Being a mother is wonderful but incredibly challenging. I strive every day to do my best for them,” she said.
The former actress also reflected on the ways in which parenthood has reshaped her life, bringing purpose and grounding amid past challenges. She continues to advocate for supportive family structures and expresses admiration for foster families, recognising the vital role they play in providing stability for children who cannot live with their biological parents.
Flanagan’s comments offer a heartfelt insight into her evolving priorities, showing her dedication to both her own children and the wider community of children in need, and demonstrating how her experiences as a mother have inspired her vision for the future.
