Strictly Come Dancing star George Clarke fought back tears as he opened up about his mum’s battle with not one, but TWO life-threatening health conditions. 
The 26-year-old social media personality, who first rose to fame online before joining Strictly, revealed in November that his mother, Nicky, had been diagnosed with cancer. But his emotional confession on This Morning went even deeper when he revealed that Nicky has also been fighting encephalitis, a rare brain inflammation, since George was just 16.
In an emotional moment, George recalled how, after his mum collapsed at home, she was rushed to the hospital, put into a coma, and given just a 20% chance of survival. “I saw her being wheeled out, and she didn’t recognise me,” George said, his voice wavering. He went on to explain how the family tried to remain hopeful as she spent months in hospital.
But despite the horrific ordeal, Nicky pulled through. George described how his mum’s resilience never faltered, even as she lost her sense of taste, smell, and long-term memory. “She’s the most selfless person that I have ever met,” George said, praising her for her strength and love.
Now, as she battles cancer, George admitted that the emotional weight of it all was heavy. But he also praised his dad, Sean Clarke, for shielding him and his siblings from the worst. “He didn’t tell us how bad it really was,” George said.
With a mix of love and sorrow, George dedicated a heartfelt performance on Strictly to Nicky, calling her “the loveliest person in the world” despite everything she’s been through.
