Frankie Bridge has been left heartbroken as she revealed the emotional toll of her son Carter’s worsening dyslexia, and the agonising decision she faces about sending him to a specialist school. 😢
The former Saturdays star, 37, shared an emotional update in her latest YouTube vlog, where she broke down in tears as she spoke about the struggles Carter, 10, has been facing with his learning difficulties. Frankie revealed that Carter’s dyslexia has dramatically worsened since his diagnosis last year, leaving her feeling ‘trapped’ and uncertain about the future.

“I Just Don’t Know What’s Best For Him Anymore”
Carter’s mother, who shares him and his brother Parker, 12, with former footballer husband Wayne Bridge, admitted that the situation has left her questioning whether she’s making the right choices for her son. “I feel so trapped. I don’t know what the right thing is for him anymore,” Frankie confessed, her voice trembling with emotion.
In the deeply emotional vlog, Frankie explained that Carter’s recent assessment revealed he is now severely dyslexic. “He’s worse than before,” she shared, visibly distraught. “It’s heartbreaking for me to see him struggle like this, especially after everything he’s been through.”
A Specialist School: The Cost of Help

The heartache didn’t stop there. Frankie revealed that while Carter’s current school in Surrey provides good support, she is now considering sending him to a specialist dyslexic school that could offer him the tailored teaching he needs. However, the decision is fraught with difficulty. Not only would the school be far away from home, but it would come at a hefty price—between £15,000 and £40,000 a year. 💸
“I went to see a specialist dyslexic school for Carter,” Frankie explained. “It’s far from us, and it’s really expensive. But it’s exactly what he needs. The whole school is set up for kids like Carter. Every class is designed for dyslexic children, so no one feels different. But I’m just not sure how we’d make it work logistically or financially.”
Frankie admitted she initially resisted the idea of a specialist school, saying, “Honestly, I kind of wanted to hate it. I feared putting Carter into something so different. But when I saw it, I was really impressed. It’s lovely, and I think it could be the right environment for him.”
Emotional Upheaval: A Family Torn Between Choices

Despite the potential benefits, the prospect of sending Carter away for his education has been a huge emotional and logistical burden for Frankie. “It’s not ideal for us as a family. It’s far away and so expensive,” she said, struggling to hold back tears. “But at the same time, I want Carter to be in a place where he feels confident, where he doesn’t feel different, and where he’s set up for success rather than failure.” 💔
The Struggles of a Mother’s Love

Frankie’s emotional journey reached a breaking point as she recalled dropping Carter off at school one morning, where he had been crying about his hardest subject, maths. “It’s mentally so hard for me,” she said, her voice breaking. “I just never know what to do, what’s best for him. It’s so hard seeing him cry, especially when he’s asked me so many times to homeschool him.”
Tears flowed as Frankie shared how Carter’s confidence had been shattered by his struggles. “I feel so helpless,” she admitted. “He’s been to so many different schools, and nothing has been able to meet his needs. I just don’t know what the right thing is anymore.”
A Heartbreaking Comparison
The emotional weight of Frankie’s words deepened as she compared Carter’s struggles with those of his older brother, Parker. “Parker had extra help when he was younger, and now he’s doing well at school,” Frankie shared. “But with Carter, it’s just not coming as easily. It’s hard seeing one child do so well, while the other is struggling so much.” 😔
A Battle for Carter’s Future
Carter was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of eight, but Frankie admits that it took a long time for her to get him the support he needed. “I feel like I’ve been fighting for him for so long, and I know we’re lucky to have the opportunities we’ve had,” she said. “But it’s still breaking my heart watching him go through this. He’s only got so long left at school, and I don’t want to fail him.”
As Frankie faces the dilemma of what’s best for Carter, she remains determined to give him the best possible future, even if it means making difficult sacrifices. “I just want him to feel confident and loved,” she said, her voice filled with pain. “I want him to be able to succeed.”
