Ex-NFL Star Darron Lee Faces Murder Charges After Allegedly Using ChatGPT to Plot Crime Cover-Up!

A former NFL linebacker and first-round draft pick, Darron Lee, was back in a Tennessee courtroom on March 9 after being charged with first-degree murder following the death of his 29-year-old girlfriend, Gabriella Perpétuo. The chilling case took a new twist as prosecutors presented disturbing evidence, including messages Lee allegedly sent to ChatGPT asking for advice on how to cover up the crime scene. 🕵️‍♂️💻

The tragedy unfolded when Perpétuo was found dead in the couple’s Ooltewah, Tennessee home on February 5, 2026. Prosecutors used the preliminary hearing to reveal body camera footage from the responding officers, as well as the ChatGPT messages that Lee allegedly sent in the hours following Perpétuo’s death.

In a series of messages introduced by Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp, Lee allegedly asked ChatGPT for advice on handling the situation after discovering Perpétuo unresponsive at home. One of the messages included: “Fiancée did her crazy thing again and now she’s messed up… she stabbed herself, slit her eye? Idk but she isn’t waking up or responding, what do I do?“

Lee went on to ask: “Can stab wound like punctures be caused by a fall?,” and “she got blood all over the damn place.” 😞

These messages point to Lee’s attempt to seek guidance from the AI bot, which prosecutors argue shows he had a plan to cover up the crime. The investigation revealed multiple hematomas, abrasions, fractures, and lacerations on Perpétuo’s body, all of which were determined to have been caused by blunt force trauma. The injuries were consistent with a violent altercation rather than an accident. 💔

In the body camera footage played in court, Lee can be heard describing his version of the events, claiming he woke up to find Perpétuo lying unresponsive on the couch. “I came down and she was laying on the couch on her side, and then I was like, ‘Hey baby, what do you want to eat?’ and she wouldn’t say anything,” Lee told a responding officer. He explained that he immediately called 911 but was visibly distraught.

However, when deputies arrived, they found blood, shattered glass, and evidence of a violent struggle, raising questions about Lee’s account of the situation. Mike Little, Lee’s public defender, acknowledged that something happened in the house but stated, “We don’t know what happened inside of that house.” He continued, “We know something happened inside of that house, but we don’t know what.” 🧐

Lee’s past legal troubles were also brought to light. The 31-year-old, who was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 and went on to win a Super Bowl with the team in 2019, has a history of assault charges. In 2023, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his own mother and, previously, the mother of his child. He reached a deal to avoid serious jail time in those cases, instead pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempted assault in 2025. ⚖️

Despite his history, Lee had been held without bail at the Hamilton County Jail since February 5, with authorities charging him with first-degree murder. On March 10, the judge ruled that Lee will remain in custody and sent the case to a grand jury to determine whether it proceeds to trial. Meanwhile, Perpétuo’s family has filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against Lee, further intensifying the emotional turmoil surrounding this tragedy. On the GoFundMe page created to cover funeral expenses, Perpétuo’s cousin shared a heartfelt message, saying, “She was loved by so many and loved those around her with her whole heart.” 💖
