The beloved Queen of Cakes, who became a national treasure through The Great British Bake Off, has once again shown why she remains one of Britainâs most admired style figures.
Speaking from a beautiful Cotswolds potting shed owned by her friend, fashion designer Jade Holland Cooper, Dame Mary looked effortlessly polished in soft pinks, tweed trousers and practical green gardening loafers.
For Mary, getting older does not mean dressing in dull shades.
âWhen youâre older, you really donât have to go black and grey and boring,â she said, making clear that colour still has a place in every wardrobe.
đ Although she laughs at being called a fashion icon, Dame Mary admits she enjoys clothes more in later life. Her rule is simple: outfits should be comfortable, flattering and never too flashy.
She also shares a close bond with Jade, 39, after the pair met at Cheltenham Races and discovered their mutual love of classic British style and gardening.
đż Gardening, Dame Mary says, has become her âsecond great loveâ after cookery. The passion began in childhood with her father and later returned when her children were older.
At her Oxfordshire home, she and her husband Paul now grow herbs, carrots, red onions, cucumbers and tomatoes, using raised beds designed to make gardening easier as they age.
For Mary, the garden is not just about food â it is about peace.
âAs soon as you come out in the fresh air, your worries go,â she said.
đŒ Whether she is baking, gardening or stepping out in a bright jacket, Dame Mary Berry continues to remind Britain that age should never mean disappearing.
At 91, she is still colourful, graceful and completely herself.
