Jeremy Clarkson has issued a sobering health update after being rushed to hospital, as fans get a first look at the forthcoming fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm.
Amazon Prime has confirmed the new series will premiere on June 3, with episodes one through four dropping immediately, followed by episodes five and six on June 10, and the final two installments airing June 17.
In a trailer released Monday, Clarkson, 66, reflects on his mortality following a serious health scare at his Cotswolds home in 2024. At the time, he experienced excruciating chest pains and claimed he was “days from death.” He was swiftly taken by ambulance to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where doctors found one of his arteries “completely blocked.” Surgeons later inserted a stent, a tiny expandable mesh tube designed to restore blood flow to narrowed or blocked coronary arteries.
Discussing the incident with his farmhand Kaleb Cooper in the trailer, Clarkson explains: “You’ve got three arteries in your heart to keep it pumping. My heart was not getting any blood.” Despite doctors urging him to slow down—and Amazon reportedly advising the same—Clarkson pushes forward, tackling new challenges on the farm, including a driverless tractor, a flock of ‘Easy Care’ sheep, and an unexpected arrival of travellers at his favourite pub.
Kaleb, intrigued by Clarkson’s expensive new machinery, jokes, “That’s basically taking my job.” Yet the state-of-the-art tractor quickly breaks down in the field, leaving Clarkson to quip dryly, “That went well.” His new flock of sheep also proves tricky, with Kaleb noting, “No sheep is easy to care for,” a warning the pair quickly experience firsthand.
Later in the series, Kaleb is informed that his wife-to-be, Kaya, is in labour. He astonishingly chooses to finish ploughing a field before heading to the hospital, prompting Clarkson to shout via walkie-talkie: “S***, you’ve gotta go!” Kaleb replies nonchalantly, “No, not yet, I’ll finish this field quickly,” leaving Clarkson and viewers incredulous.
Away from the fields, Clarkson faces more challenges, including running his favoured watering hole, The Farmer’s Dog, during its first festive season and navigating issues exacerbated by the government’s budget, which has sent shockwaves through the UK farming community.
The new series also takes Clarkson and Kaleb abroad to the Netherlands, exploring cutting-edge farms and experimenting with hi-tech solutions, including laser-scanned fields and robot tractors. As the series progresses, bad luck and unforeseen challenges strike from every direction, escalating tension and drama at Diddly Squat Farm.
Clarkson’s Farm, which first premiered on Amazon Prime in 2021, follows the former Top Gear star as he manages his Cotswolds farm. The show quickly became a hit, running for four successful series before the announcement of series five in December 2024. Filming wrapped in February 2026.
The new series introduces a flock of Easy Care sheep, highlighting Clarkson’s increasingly hi-tech approach, and features a mix of chaos, comedy, and candid insight into the challenges of modern farming. The show is executively produced by Andy Wilman, Zoe Brewer, and Peter Fincham, produced by Peter Richardson, with Nick Dalton as editor. Senior producers include Conor Tighe and Vicky Hoy, with Alice Gordon-Lyons serving as executive producer.
Clarkson’s Farm fans don’t have long to wait. With the series set to premiere on June 3, the eagerly anticipated return promises to blend Clarkson’s signature humour with real-life farming trials, all against the backdrop of a man grappling with his own health and mortality.
