Bride in Tears as Sister-in-Law Destroys Wedding Dress with Black Paint on Special Day
Gemma Monk was in tears today on Good Morning Britain as she recalled the shocking moment when her sister-in-law, Antonia Eastwood, ruined her £1,800 wedding dress by throwing black paint at it on her wedding day. What was supposed to be a day of celebration and love with her partner of two decades, Ken, was abruptly overshadowed by this vindictive act.
The bride explained that everything had started perfectly, with her and Ken, childhood sweethearts, preparing to tie the knot in front of family and friends. But things took a dark turn when Antonia, who is married to Gemma’s brother Ashley, threw paint on her dress just before the ceremony.
Gemma broke down on-air as she recalled the fateful moment: “I knew instantly who it was. There’s not many people I don’t get on with. I’m not a hated person; I’ve got a kind heart.” Despite the shocking incident, Gemma and Ken decided to go ahead with their wedding, and after switching dresses, they exchanged vows in front of their loved ones.
Antonia, who was later sentenced to 10 months in jail (suspended for 12 months) for the attack, claimed that the black paint had been in her car by coincidence, citing that she had been using it to create handprints and footprints for her newborn grandchild. However, her actions left Gemma and her family devastated.
Despite the drama, Gemma and Ken are focused on their future, with plans to renew their vows next year in a celebration free of conflict.
