Former Big Brother star Grace Adams-Short has reignited one of reality TV’s most brutal old tensions after launching a blistering attack on former host Davina McCall.
Grace, who became one of the most talked-about housemates of Big Brother series 7 in 2006, has claimed Davina was “never really friendly” towards her and suggested she could tell the presenter did not like her during her eviction interview.
The former reality star, now married to fellow 2006 housemate Mikey Dalton and a mother of four, did not hold back as she reflected on her time in the spotlight almost 20 years after leaving the famous house. And while many fans remember Grace as one of the show’s most divisive contestants, it seems she has not forgotten how she felt when she came face to face with Davina on eviction night. 🔥
Speaking in a new interview, Grace claimed: “Davina was never really friendly to me. She was a Big Brother b***h!”
She then added that even during her exit interview, she felt the atmosphere was frosty.
“Even during my eviction interview, I could tell she didn’t like me. And I’ve never crossed paths with her again,” Grace said.
It was a dramatic swipe at one of British TV’s most beloved reality hosts. Davina became the face of Big Brother during its Channel 4 glory years, fronting the show from its launch in 2000 and becoming famous for her energetic catchphrases, dramatic eviction-night delivery and emotional interviews with contestants after they left the house.
But for Grace, her own experience appears to have been far from warm.
Her comments are especially striking because her eviction remains one of the most memorable moments of the 2006 series. Grace had entered the house as confident, sharp and outspoken, but quickly became a controversial figure among viewers. She was often branded a “mean girl” during her time on the show and eventually left after 31 days.
That series also featured unforgettable housemates including the late Nikki Grahame, Pete Bennett, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace and Imogen Thomas, and remains one of the most iconic seasons in the programme’s history. But while Grace’s time in the house was short compared with some of her co-stars, her impact was enormous.
And her post-eviction interview with Davina was part of that drama. 💣
For many contestants, walking out of the Big Brother house was already overwhelming. They were suddenly hit with cheers, boos, flashing lights, press attention and the shock of discovering how the public had perceived them. For someone like Grace, who had been at the centre of fierce viewer reaction, the experience was likely even more intense.
Now, years later, she appears to believe Davina’s attitude added to that discomfort.
However, Grace was far more complimentary about other faces from the Big Brother universe. She praised Dermot O’Leary, who hosted Big Brother’s Little Brother at the time, describing him as “lovely” and “genuine”.
Grace said she spent a week with Dermot on the spin-off show after leaving the house and remembered him warmly. She even claimed he once stopped his taxi on Regent Street after spotting her, and said he had always been kind to her mother.
That contrast made her criticism of Davina feel even sharper.
Grace also had kind words for Rylan Clark, who went on to present Big Brother’s Bit on the Side years later. She said she met Rylan before his X Factor fame, when he still had ginger hair, and claimed he had told her he was a huge fan of her series. Despite his later success, Grace said he had remained “so lovely”.
So while Grace may have taken aim at Davina, she clearly does not feel negatively about everyone connected to the show.
But she did have harsh words for Big Brother itself. Grace claimed the programme has “lost its appeal” compared with the glory days, arguing that modern reality TV contestants are now too aware of what they want to get out of the experience. 📺
According to Grace, when she appeared on the show, it felt more like a wild 15 minutes of fame before returning to normal life. Today, she believes many contestants enter reality TV with a clear strategy to build fame, land deals and grow their social media profile.
She suggested that shows such as Love Island have changed the reality TV landscape, making it feel more calculated. In her view, the old Big Brother magic came from casting entertaining but normal people — characters who felt unpredictable, messy and authentic.
Grace believes modern reality casts do not feel as average or relatable, which she says makes them less interesting to watch.
It is a stinging assessment from someone who lived through one of the most chaotic eras of reality television. The 2006 series aired at a time when Big Brother was still a cultural juggernaut, dominating tabloid headlines, workplace conversations and late-night TV debates. Housemates could become famous overnight, but the fame was often brutal, sudden and unforgiving.
Grace knows that better than most.
She went into the house as a young woman and came out as one of the most polarising contestants of the series. The public reaction was fierce, but she also found lasting love with Mikey Dalton, whom she later married. The couple have since built a family together, giving her Big Brother story a very different ending from many reality TV romances.
Still, her latest comments show that some memories from that era remain raw. 💔
Davina has not publicly responded to Grace’s remarks, and the claims remain Grace’s personal account of how she felt at the time. But the interview has already stirred nostalgia and debate among longtime fans, many of whom still remember the electric, chaotic energy of the show’s early years.
For some, Grace’s comments may feel like unfinished business from a reality TV era that thrived on confrontation. For others, they may seem like a reminder that eviction-night glamour often hid a much harsher emotional reality for contestants.
Either way, Grace Adams-Short has made one thing very clear: nearly two decades later, she has not forgotten how Davina McCall made her feel.
And in true classic Big Brother fashion, the drama is still delivering.
