In a deeply emotional update that has left fans around the world holding their breath, Beverley Callard, beloved star of I’m A Celebrity South Africa and the iconic Liz McDonald of Coronation Street, has revealed that her cancer battle is far from over. The 69-year-old actress, who bravely announced her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, has now shared the chilling news that the disease has spread to her lymph nodes, keeping her in the fight of her life.

Following her surgery to remove affected lymph nodes, Beverley opened up to her followers on Instagram on April 16, with a heart-wrenching revelation about her condition. While the surgery itself had gone well and the cancerous tissue was successfully removed, the presence of cancer in one of her lymph nodes has cast a shadow over the progress she had hoped for.

“They cut the cancer out,” she shared, clearly relieved, but added a painful truth: “Cancer is in the first lymph node.” Though it was not in the second or third nodes, the fact that it’s still there, even in its smallest form, has left Beverley with a nagging worry that refuses to fade.

In her emotional message, Beverley explained the metaphor her consultant used to describe the lymph nodes as “stairs,” a helpful comparison to show how cancer can climb from one to the next. “If cancer is in the lymph nodes, it sort of tends to climb up the stairs,” she said, drawing a powerful image of the relentless progression of the disease.

But the next step in this harrowing journey is crucial. Beverley’s doctors are now sending the cancerous tissue sample to America to assess the aggression of the cancer. The results will determine the next course of action: if the cancer is found to be aggressive, Beverley will face chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy. If not, she will proceed with radiotherapy alone, as originally planned.

Despite the positive outcome of the surgery, Beverley admitted the uncertainty of waiting for the results is just as painful as the illness itself. “It’s still a worry, and still a waiting time, which is an absolute pain,” she confessed, her voice thick with emotion. For someone as strong as Beverley, this waiting game feels like the hardest battle yet.

But even as she faces this terrifying uncertainty, Beverley continues to inspire her fans with her strength, courage, and unwavering resolve. Since her diagnosis, she has kept her followers updated with each step of her journey, and in return, they have flooded her with love, support, and messages of hope.

One fan wrote, “You are a warrior woman. Keep positive and take care. Much love,” while another shared, “So much waiting, Liz. Thinking of you – you are amazing.” A third chimed in, sending her strength: “Sending love to you. The waiting game is so awful. Wishing you the best.” These heartfelt tributes are a testament to the love and admiration Beverley has earned from her loyal fans.
